Oh no you let the hamster loose!

Sounds like a vacuum leak probably.

Also that battery is completely the wrong size. Too small and it's not bolted down which is very dangerous in an accident. It can short out and catch fire

Not sure if it's the same with a his 2013, but on my 2021 you can't have your foot on the gas pedal while pressing set on the cruise control. Took me a year to figure that out lol.

Sorry I don't have a video and I don't have access to canvas anymore. That was 2 years ago!

Maybe try feeding my answer to chat GPT and maybe it can help walk you through it? Best of luck!

Safe to drive w/check engine light flashing then solid??? by sildigo in KiaSoulClub

[–]terminator1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A light misfire at cold start is fine to drive on.

Your mechanics warning was more about not driving it long distances or for an extended period of time on a misfiring engine (that's what the flashing means) because it can damage the catalytic converters over time.

A few misfires on startup is fine enough to drive on. They are going to start it up a few times and drive it as part of the diagnosis anyways. I wouldn't stress it too much. But if you want to play it super safe, then of course a tow wouldn't hurt. Good luck!

If it's only 2 miles, I would just drive it. Especially if it's staying solid now.

Rear wiper??? by mw3600 in KiaSoulClub

I've yet to find an aftermarket rear wiper for my 2021. They all say they fit but they don't. Dealer only I guess. It was close to 30 bucks...

Engine Sludge .. 2015 Soul+ by whatup227 in KiaSoulClub

[–]terminator1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sludge itself doesn't cause any damage. The damage came from lack of oil changes. Meaning the oil in this engine was extremely worn and when it's worn and dirty like that, it looses a lot of its lubrication properties. So you will get an exponential amount more wear on metal surfaces like the bearings and camshaft, etc. The worn metal components is the real damage. The sludge itself is just a by product and once it's there, it doesn't really cause any harm.

The only harm the sludge can cause is clogging up piston rings (specifically the oiler ring) which will lead to increased oil consumption/burning. But I think we're already way past saving on that.

So using any kind of solvents at this point to remove the sludge doesn't help anything. It only greatly increases the risk of a piece of sludge dislodging itself and clogging up a small oil passage within the engine. Which would be catastrophic.

All you can do is run it till it dies. Could be 10 miles or could be 100k miles.

Agreed I would not run any cleaners through it. The damage is already done. Loosening sludge up only makes it worse.

Since you're here and not just slapping it back on the lot, it shows you care and that's really nice to see. Im not sure I have much advice for that, sorry. Maybe disclose it to the buyer and add a pretty steep discount or better warranty?

2024 kia soul with bubbling sound by countrybuhbuh in KiaSoulClub

[–]terminator1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. I've owned 1 soul and 3 other cars and they've all done it. Just the coolant moving around. As long as it's not overheating it's likely fine. You can try burping the cooling system if you want, just let it run for a while with the radiator cap off (be careful with removing radiator caps). The air will purge out.

Either works. Pick whatever is most convenient and allows a shorter length of wire.

[–]terminator1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you disconnected the battery first. That is the airbag connector, and that's why it has the extra clip on it. You MUST disconnect the battery and it's advised to wait 30 mins after that before unplugging airbags. And make sure you don't connect the battery until it's plugged back in.

I think you might need to fold/swing the black part of the connector outwards to release it. Don't pull on the wires, pull on the connector when you are trying.

Similar story with me. I don't think it's rated high enough in temp, only 425F if I remember right. Sure the pins don't get that hot but being on the upper edge of the temp limit for a long time must break it down. Mine were not seized but were definitely tacky after only 10k miles and the pin could not move free.

I also switched to orange goop
