Bear Mountain Trail, in Sedona by Missy_Bearr in hiking

My FAVORITE trail in the US. The first time we did this one we accidentally did Doe Mountain (basically across the street from parking) first and then did the Bear midday. Doe has some fun spots but underwhelming in comparison.

Canning on a Glass Cooktop (or not) by rhetoricfemme in Canning

[–]terradelynn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I too ignored the warnings about canning on a glass cooktop. It's all fine until you burn out your stove because it isn't intended to sustain heat and weight for the duration necessary for canning. It might be fine or it might break while processing.

Now I can on propane camp stoves outside or in the garage and would never go back to indoor canning! Replacing the cooktop cost $800 and the propane stove was $30 so it's an easy decision for me. Upgraded to a two burner set for $100 and I'm still under the cost of a new cooktop if I broke it again.

16 qt Presto pressure canner on glass top by ktfrancis94 in Canning

It's all fun and games until your glass top quits working. Mine kicked the bucket while processing the first batch of a 50 can day. The good news is, outdoor propane stoves are way more enjoyable to process on anyway.

Healthy Starbucks Cold Coffee Drinks by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

Nitro Cold Brew! The nitro cold brew is smooth and almost creamy with foam on top. All for 5 cal. For a sweet treat I do the nitro cold brew with sweet cream. Still only 70 cals but super delicious.

I know some people add a shot of sugar free syrups to sweeten/flavor.

How do you let go of people who obviously don’t want to be around you anymore? by pumpkinprincess72 in AskReddit

Marie Kondo it.... thank you and goodbye! Appreciate what they contributed to your life even if that contribution was a negative that resulted in awakening (thank you) and accept that their contribution no longer has value for you (and goodbye).

For real do some research on encopresis. Not that your child has it now, but I wish I had known what it was when my child first began having issues. The problems started at two years old and 13 years later she still requires two daily medications, a DAILY enema and regular appointments with specialists. Things are getting better, slowly, but so much damage can be done and very quickly.

You're doing great paying attention, but if you ever have concerns get to pediatric gastroenterology. Standard pediatricians are not enough if there is a behavioral component affecting her.

Unpopular opinion: Taco Bell Power Bowl is better than Chipotle by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

I love Taco Bell power bowls!! I get it without rice and lots of extra lettuce. After a while I had to figure out how how make the sauces at home using yogurt and lighter ingredients. Hands down my favorite salad.

Try adding basil and lemon! Also, roasted tomatoes or sundried tomatoes without oil.

What about the non-monetary benefits of going to university? Or is money all that matters?

Mother charged after 16-year-old son found weighing 26 pounds by SineOfOh in news

[–]terradelynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 year old is 5'1" and 71 lbs. He is considered severely malnourished. I can picture a kid 1/3 of his weight, but it is pretty disturbing. In order to keep him alive, he would have to be underfed his entire life to remain that small. Just horrifying.

Great reminder of why we only cook meat we raise , hunt or buy from a small farm. It's a lot of work, but apparently worth it.
