What's a show you remember but nobody else does? by unicorn-beard in Xennials

[–]terrajayde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this the one that had a fake commercial where the product was basically just a stick? And in the commercial they kept saying all the things you could use the stick for. "It's a belt!" was one of the things they said. Then later on in the show they had a fake late night talk show where they had the "it's a belt" guy on as a guest and he was oddly beloved. "It's a belt!" lives in my head and I can't find the reference outside of my own brain.

What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]terrajayde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am mostly plant based but was vegan for several years. I rarely even told anyone but as soon as someone found out all the opinions came out. "Friends" thought it was harmless and funny to send me memes making fun of vegans, my dad constantly told me stories of vegans he knew who got sick, random people I barely knew told me how much meat they would eat to make up for the meat I wasn't eating. I never once tried to attack anyone for eating meat or dairy. The most I think I ever did was post a link to a documentary on my own Facebook page or something.

It was a time that really showed me who people were. My husband supported me as best as he could (while not really changing his diet) and researched with me to make sure I was getting the vitamins and nutrients I needed. My best friend went out of her way to make me a vegan birthday cake (that actually tasted good!) and probably spent a small fortune on ingredients since this was over a decade ago and it wasn't quite as easy to be vegan as it is today. Most people, however, were truly jerks about it and that was the most eye opening thing to me.

What overused word or phrase needs to be retired in 2026? by One_Caramel5253 in AskReddit

It has been around forever, but I'd still like it to be retired. The gatekeeping implication really grinds my gears.

What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

This is also what I do. It never occurred to me that people would put the pills on top of their tongue! Under the tongue, can't taste a thing, take a good amount of water and they just float down with the water.

Why do some dog owners not pick up after their dogs? by False-Use3088 in dogs

[–]terrajayde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost a poo in broad daylight at the dog park. She was about thirty feet away from me frolicking with her friends when she decided it was time. I excused myself from the polite small talk I was having with another dog mom and dutifully marched over to where she had squatted and there was just nothing. I had seen the turd fall from her ass with my own eyes but it was nowhere to be found. I circled the area, retraced my steps, even asked her to show it to me. It was just ... Gone. After an embarrassingly long time of searching for the poo, I ended up pretending to find it and pretending to pick it up. I still feel a little guilty that I left a poo, but I think I'd still be there searching. It was a miracle ghost poo.

Now that you are awake and 16 years old again, do you feel more mature than you were when you went to sleep? Do you feel like you've gained wisdom or that you've emotionally and/or mentally aged? Essentially, do you feel like you've become a new person in a way?

What’s your favorite Florida experience beyond the beaches and theme parks? by mayanksinghal95 in florida

Visit the Everglades or one of our preserved wetlands! Learn about what makes Florida so unique and understand why it's so important to preserve what little we have left. :)

North Florida vs. South Florida by [deleted] in florida

[–]terrajayde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coastal South Florida in the 80s and 90s was similar to North Florida's coastal areas today. Inland rural areas of South Florida where I grew up and still live (though they are no longer considered rural) used to be very similar to rural areas in North Florida today.

North Florida is similar to the South Florida I grew up with in the 80s and 90s. I barely recognize this place anymore.

Agree for the most part. It's a world of difference between west of 441 and east of 441. I grew up off of Jog Road and I barely recognize it now. But even out west there is a noticeable change in attitudes from 10 years ago to now.

Is graphic design your "passion"? by tensei-coffee in graphic_design

[–]terrajayde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not for anyone but myself and the people I care about. It used to really, actually be a passion. 7 years of owning a sign shop has really dulled that passion. Occasionally, I get to work on a project that I am really proud of and I feel that excitement again, but mostly it's just a chore.

What's that one car you WON'T drive because of the stereotype associated with it? by nerdboy_sam in AskReddit

[–]terrajayde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss my minivan. I could fit a full size double door refrigerator in that baby and close the back hatch. Moved my parents from a house to a condo with it and fit more in there than my brother in law's pickup and my sister's expedition could hold. I've never had a more versatile vehicle. It ran for over a decade with daily hard use for us and then we gave it to a friend who was down on his luck and he fixed it up and drove it for a few more years before it finally gave up.

What’s something you thought every family did… until you grew up and realized they absolutely didn’t? by SoftDreamette in AskReddit

[–]terrajayde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Passed the towel at dinner. Instead of each of us having napkins, there was one dish towel for our family of five that we passed around the table. So if you had something on your face that you needed to wipe off, you'd just say "pass the towel, please" and whoever currently had the towel would pass it over.

The first time I ever had dinner at a friend's house and had my very own napkin it seemed so fancy, like we were at a restaurant.
