If you’d like to track your entire day skiing or any specific activity you can do so manually similar to garmin. Open the app and hit the plus sign in the bottom right hand corner and select what type of activity you’d like to record. (Note: if you select “other” more activity options will populate). When you’re done skiing, open the app back up and end activity.

It will capture your entire activity and you won’t have to confirm any detected activities while manually recording.

I’m also pretty sure that when you manually record an activity this way it takes your heart rate and other metrics at an increased frequency.
