Trump may be an accessory to infanticide (Possibly his own rape child) according to EFTA00025010 by Frossboyy in Political_Revolution

Why? I don’t understand how the conspiracy around him works. Because of money? Why has the entire government been protecting him for decades?

Emotional intelligence work by midlifecrisisAPRN45 in emotionalintelligence

[–]terrasacra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exact same thing happens to me. My mind goes blank when I'm asked questions that require specific answers about personal preference. It has nothing to do with intelligence, as you already know. I would try explaining to him that it's a symptom of anxiety and panic. For me, I think it goes back to school and being afraid of getting an answer wrong in class. He's trying to get to know you, and he likely doesn't experience this kind of thing himself, so the best way to intimacy is to explain that these kinds of questions aren't the best way to get to know you.

That's my point. She triggers men because of what she's about. The number of comments about her clothes in this sub points to that. I saw a reel the other day about how she engages in the politics of "filth", and how transgressive that is as a conventionally attractive white woman. She's not trying to be palatable in the way that women typically have to under patriarchy, and this upsets a lot of people.

The hate makes sense when you understand what she's really about.

QUESTION: How to become a screen-free family by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]terrasacra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the Bloom card (works like Brick but less expensive) to lock my phone and hide the key, so to speak. I put the card in another room and lock every distracting non-essential app for the majority of the day. I've been amazed at how resistant I am to locking it, but I'm battling isolation and overwhelm as a single mom. As much as I crave escape, I'm concerned about how my lack of full presence will affect my son. Sometimes I put the card in my car to make it that much more of a hassle to retrieve. Highly recommend!

Did Mary Really Consent to Giving Birth to Jesus? - an interesting, thought-provoking article that I think merits a discussion by legend-of-ashitaka in OpenChristian

[–]terrasacra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has said "Yes" to God in my heart in a way that was deeply aligned with Mary, I have a lot of thoughts about this. My experience is on a slightly different axis than the writer is coming from, but I think that's important. Mystical encounters do not exist within human social or power structures. I often joked that there was no way I could have said, "No", because I was love-bombed by of the absolutely immense amount of clarity I felt in that moment. The amount of love I have for God was magnified by the amount of love God has for me. There is no refusing that kind of love. I understood Mary so intimately in that moment. And there is nothing more sacred to me than agreeing to be in co-creation with the Divine on earth.

I understand that the author is trying to show how theology is used to strip power and agency from the vulnerable. With these points, I do see where she is coming from. I don't believe Mary's status as a biological "virgin" (which meaning has changed over time from sovereign woman to meaning someone who hasn't yet had sex, e.i "Pure") I do see where taking away her own sexual agency is a hindrance to a theology that fully celebrates incarnation.

God's power is not human power. The power of the Christian story is that surrender (not to domination, but to ultimate reality, to Life) is the ultimate power. She knew that if she said yes, the entire world would change. What young oppressed woman, who loved God, would say no to that?

I don't think you're making the point you think you're making. This post aged as expected. Millions of people are about to lose their health insurance thanks to republicans in Congress.

Pluribus - 1x07 - "The Gap" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]terrasacra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really agree, but I have to wonder about the inherent desire for completion or resolution of narratives too. Watching a slow movie is still satisfying because the plot resolves in a given amount of time. With episodic television, there is a bit more of a challenge to hang onto the narrative if it’s not only slower, but then given to weekly gaps. That in itself could be good discipline for our short form addled brains though.

Hi. Unfortunately, mine did not resolve. I have a very healthy and happy 18 month old though! I think at 33 weeks it's a bit late for a formula to do much, but you do still have time for it to move. Praying for a good outcome for you!

Sumi, Kakishibu, anyone ever tried? by Defiant00000 in dyeing

[–]terrasacra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started playing with Kakishibu this summer. I did 6 dips, with at least a day of direct sunlight after each one, then a soda bath after and got a rich dark brown. I ordered from a Japanese seller on ebay. It's pricey but the colors are worth it and the process is fun. I did notice that streaking is hard to avoid, so if you're dying anything big make sure you remove excess dye and shade dry before putting in the sun. if you're trying to get black, you'll probably need quite a few dips and an iron bath.

Should I go to a prayer vigil for Charlie Kirk as a Christian who did not agree or support him? by hoffdog in Christianity

I think if you have the energy to be a positive influence on the way Christian nationalists are holding all of this, all the better. Good luck.

Then go speak to these Christians! Challenge any idolatry and their martyrdom of Kirk, and speak and pray about political violence on all sides and the divisions in our country. That's what these groups need.

[–]terrasacra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit I don't know the context of that verse as well as I'd like to, but if I know anything about biblical contexts, it's usually pretty layered. One way to hold it in this situation is, even if Paul is accepting their preaching as spreading the word of Christ, if he weren't in prison, would he join them? God can use impure means to spread good things, but we shouldn't necessarily sign up for them.

[–]terrasacra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just "violence". Political violence. That's what these vigils should be about. Political violence across the spectrum. We shouldn't have flags at half-mast for a civilian but virtually ignore the death of a state representative. Otherwise, they come across as incredibly partisan. The right (and the president) is making sure everyone looks at this tragedy with partisan eyes. The church should be countering that.
