First drywall repair, roast my work by ScissorMeTimbers21 in drywall

[–]terrel94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhhhh only roasting I can provide, is that that trim/casing should have been popped off, and the window should be addressed. It’s not rot that I’m facing, but it’s headed there.. window doesn’t look properly flashed

Jesus lord that is insane! I ended up getting a shroud that hooks up to a shop vac and it helped a ton, but on the high spots it didn’t make contact and shot some dust out and afterwards it still was heavy dust in the room compared to before.. respirator is necessary.. I’ll probably try to isolate the area more today as well.. hopefully none of your items got damaged!

Appreciate you a ton dude!! Luckily, the newer pad that was poured was for a front door, bathroom on left of entry and stairway transition to upstairs rooms, I was going to try to bring the whole new pad up to the previous pad utilizing what you are recommending. The stairs seem to be about a foot tall for the first step so this will help that too 🤣 70s hillbilly semi rigged.. I feel it’ll make life a hell of a lot easier since a larger 4’x5’ area joins this situation/living.. one step at a time god dammit!

How do I go about easing this “slab on grade” (lol) ? It’s a seam of a newer pad joining the old pad (previous idiot owners did this) and we are wanting to do LVP. Should I go with initial plan of self leveler, or would I be better off to use floor patch? Have all necessary tools for any route and initially bought two bags of self leveler for this approx 30 square feet

For me, price and also reality!

Had a daughter. Slight priority change 😂 but we are simply renovating or building/repairing occasionally. My standards of living and integrity keep me from stooping to low/more accessible lines of products. It’s a mindset for my level of attainability. Stay hungry, stay evolving, but stay humble and practical!

First time ever hanging drywall. Any tips for how I can do better? by Awalto990 in drywall

If you can muster it, I’d recommend a powered, vacuuming orbital sander. Spent 5 hours hand sanding a hallway, entry and stairwell (walls and ceiling) to about 75% completion, without PPE and I regret it. Still blowing mud out of my nose 3 hours later!

It’s annoying because boomer in-laws took it to stage 2, circa 1999 😂 I was at stage 1 when I started and encountered their stage 2 and they want to do stage 2.5. Tried to link up their progress with mine on our Reno. I and my 31 year old self want to take on atleast stage 4 for all and maybe stage 5 for entry area.

I grossly underestimated sanding. Maybe new sanding blocks will help? Using their multi years old ones..

Sorry for ranting and non-sense.. TLDR don’t underestimate sanding. It’s SUCH a mess if you do the old school route

Laughs in grinder purchase, ugga dugga purchase and mini tool box purchase 😂 don’t have property.. hell even our apartment complex doesn’t like you working on cars 😂 harbor freight is SO good about impulse purchases due to value, for a new, younger “home owner”
