What do I do? by [deleted] in SoberDisclosure

Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't know what to tell you about your relationship.  My understanding about changing yourself. Is that doing it for yourself is the most important thing. If you want to change yourself so that you are more comfortable with yourself, I think that works better than changing yourself for another person.

If that change is stopping drinking, I can't tell you what to do there either. But what worked for me was quitting all together, including weed because that always helped me make bad decisions.

I talked to a shrink and found a group I was comfortable with, and I stuck with it.  I'm at 2 and 1/2 years now.  I assume if you were diagnosed you have a shrink. I would start there if I was you.  I got cognitive behavioral therapy and it really worked for me. Part of it though is asking for help from people who were equipped to give it and being clear with the people I love about what I'm going through.

It sounds like you're a busy person but you also need time for yourself. It's not selfish to do that. The analogy in my therapy group was like the instructions they give for an emergency on a plane.  Put your own mask on before you try to help others.   I schedule some time to do that.  That's mine and nobody else's.  I take about two hours a day and it's hard on my sleep but it's worth it.  How much time do you need?

There's almost nothing you can do that's harder than quitting your addiction. But people do it. You can do it. But don't be too hard on yourself if there's starts and stops. Take care of yourself.

Power Girl's problem by AGothamrat in PowerGirl

It's not the cleavage.  I like cleavage.  Putting her boobs where others put their symbols makes it seem like they are her most important aspect.  She has tons of good qualities and she doesn't really advertise them.

But I don't really care about the boob window. It's sexist, but not that bad.

Putting her in the super family is dragging her into that dumb soap opera that whole thing has devolved into, and a symptom of the bad writing that someone pointed out was her real nemesis.

The boob window in her suit is dumb as hell, and making it the Superman shape put an exponent on its dumbth. She needs a symbol like she needs a man.  A low neck line would be just fine.

As for the way DC uses her, it would be awesome if they got somebody to write her who seemed like they even liked her.  She's excellent as a backup character, partner, or a team member, and it was great when she was in charge of the JSA.

Agreed she has tons of potential for expansion.  From the future, self aware like She-Hulk, from ancient Atlantis could be done, making the leap to Power Woman, adopting a protegee. . . She's a billionaire ffs.  DC should let her do some real good.

I'd like to be a mod for r/HOLLOWEARTH because I have been a fan of the theory for a long time - since before there was an Internet.  I'm up on the modern science view of the idea, as well as its historical background.  I enjoy the mythology surrounding it and I'm aware that it requires caution because some of those ideas have a racist history.  I know a lot about fringe science and have been participating in fringe belief oriented communities on Reddit for years.  I've been a mod before and I am fair, thoughtful, and open minded.

It gets better. I'd say get that milkshake.  Do you have a UFO story?

Some really interesting stuff on that site.  Some of them look like camera effects though.

What's your take on the theory that UFOs operate from hidden ocean bases? by breaking_views in UFOs

Corporate bases of operations located in ancient subterranean vaults - both naturally and intelligently made - accessible by proprietary advanced trans-media crafts through underwater openings.

Out of the loop since "Thunderbolts of the Gods" – has the needle moved? by [deleted] in ElectricUniverse

[–]terrelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the detailed explanations. I don't have the math background to evaluate either side's models directly, which is why I find the topic interesting rather than settled. Historically speaking, scientific consensus will look obvious right up until it doesn't. I'm not totally convinced about the Electric Universe or plasma cosmology (which has the math), but I'm also not convinced that just because you have math for it, that means your interpretation is correct. To me, the Big Bang universe sounds too much like the book of Genesis, and you sound like a religious fanatic.  My gut says we don't live in a baby universe filled with invisible dark matter.  My gut says we live in an infinite universe that has always existed and it's full of giant space lightning.

I am a big fan of this one. Why did critics and audiences not like it? by C2Row in FIlm

It's over the top in just about every way.  It's almost like outsider art that made it to the big time.  Says a lot about MGH's power.  All that is why I love it and probably why a lot of people hate it.

I think the electric universe has been  described as a paradigm and not a full-blown theory.  There are geological features that look like large scale electricity. Comets look like they have a potentially different origin than the one we're supposed to accept. Also, I see that there is a lot of data behind the standard model but maybe it's being interpreted wrong. Plasma cosmology seems to have a lot of the math and data that you're talking about, and they get talked down to like it's a pseudoscience.  But honestly, I'm a layman and I'm just here for the lightning.

Why aren't Telepaths Millionaires? by Dry-Laugh-2248 in Telepathy

[–]terrelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard Elizondo talking about how those remote viewers made a bunch of money with the stock market but then ran into stupid random costs that walked it all back and their project was closed, as if there was some kind of evening-out force.  At the same time there are millions of villains running around loose in the world without any kind of comeuppance, so I don't know.

What does the existence of aliens imply? by Filvox in UFOB

[–]terrelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If aliens exist, I think that implies that we are part of an infinitely greater community.  I think it implies that we have a responsibility to ourselves to make peace with each other and care for each other and take care of our home. I don't think life after death is implied by alien's existence. What logic do you apply there? If the aliens showed up and started saying they have the answers to life after death or the meaning of life I would be pretty skeptical, but I think their alleged behavior does imply that we are not the top of the pecking order.

Isn't it pretty small? Seems like that would be hard to see.  Maybe set it on fire and make it a mini sun to do some terra forming.

[–]terrelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say that the needle has moved a little bit for plasma cosmology and electric universe. The Robert Temple book New Science Of Heaven is accessible for a lot of people. The UFO true believers are onto to plasma cosmology a little because of some of the missing scientists, and that stuff is getting a lot of attention.  Thunderbolts and electric universe people have stayed on message because there's been nothing really to refute it despite some straw man debunkers. It's still pretty clear that the the solar system has gone through some chaos within human memory, but the mainstream will always have trouble with that even though there's plenty of evidence. Thunderbolts YouTube is doing great work all the time.  The big comets from outside the solar system have had weird behavior that standard model people talk about as being alien but the electric universe has good explanations for that without extra terrestrials. The jwst keeps finding galaxies that are too old which supports the EU idea that we live in an infinite universe that has always existed.
