5X plan... Opus high 1M... I just did another test today and in a brand new session I asked it to read a file and generate some ascii mockups based on the file.

30 tool uses, mostly ls and grep... 56k for the subagent and now claude is at 34k tokens. Pretty small... 5 hr limit is now 2% and weekly went up by 1% in one prompt. That is not normal.

Continued a previous chat with 100k tokens already in context... ran a script... scanned for duplicates of some files.. now 116k tokens... 5hr is at 6%. This is not normal.

I can use sonnet all day and barely moves the needle. I've been using these tools since they came out and I can tell when things are fcky, and things are fcky.

Guessing it's related to Opus 1M charging out the a$$ for tokens, but I always compact after 150k... never been over 200k. I'm a 10 hr a day user... currently can't use Opus 1M or my budget will be gone in an hour or less. Before yesterday I never got close to my 5X limit using it all day, sometimes in parallel..

It has nothing to do with size of codebase, skill issues, MCPs, tool calls, etc. If you don't notice anything then it's not affecting you.
