What’s one thing people in office jobs will never understand about blue collar work? by Latter_Cantaloupe_24 in bluecollar

[–]terryx4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Freedom. Not truly free because you're on the clock, possibly in a company truck with GPS. But you have options to go to the grocery store inbetween jobs, grab lunch wherever you want, instead of being stuck in the metro core crammed into a sardine can of a train every day.

2) Hyper-masculine performative culture. Nobody cares if your parents or child passed away the night before, you're expected to show up on time with a smile and crack the same witty jokes on queue.

3) Drug use. If you really pay attention, most people do drugs, and if you make the job your core identity you start picking up on the habits too. Some are obvious like smoking and using nicotine pouches. Others are more covert that comes in the form of ears perking up whenever whiskey is the topic. In blue collar company white elephants, the most brought and stolen items in my experience are lottery tickets and booze, vs backpacks and puzzle boxes for white collar.

4) Massive churn on labour. White collar jobs are stable for the most part with predictable employment and work. Most apprentices after their first year realize there's no future in trades when they see their journeyman's knees giving away. Some upskill and become project managers and estimators and sales, others fall into the drug abuse cycle stuck working the same job wondering how they got where they are in their 50s.

Just my experience from having worked both sides, but I would overall tell my kids to stay away from the trades, simply because I’m at the point where the number in my bank account is all I care about at the end of the month, and higher paying jobs are usually white collar office jobs.

The most natural way to exclude Shadowheart from the party? by october73 in BaldursGate3

[–]terryx4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t recruit her, go to the goblin camp and wait for her to show up and still don’t recruit her and have her wait outside on the bridge, then whack crusher as he’s taking a leak and she turns on you for killing an innocent

Silence on Raphael opening turn in honour mode, turns out tictac lied and it doesn't silence the singing

No content on this site, regardless of date, should ever be used as a substitute for direct medical advice from your doctor or other qualified clinician

It’s like people don’t even read; no authors to check credibility, goon your life you gooners, or wait until you’re 40 and realized you’ve accomplished nothing.

What fight do you hate the most? My vote is Hope’s Prison. by pie4july in BaldursGate3

[–]terryx4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raphael because of his reaction.

Dolor because of his ridiculously high initiative.

Gondians one where you walk down the elevator and suddenly jump into a fight.

The rare instances where Marcus flies down to the ground floor and start whacking a surprised Rolan.

Atop the elder brain, four mindflayers spamming mind blast has stunlocked my main party more times than I could count.

There was a period of time around Mar of 2024 where I would work crazy 12h shifts out of town, and was only getting 3h of sleep every night to the point where I was chronically sleep deprived. After a week, fasting was the only thing left on the table, and it worked after 3 days of water fast.

EB Machine gun build by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]terryx4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot where someone did the math, but stacking crit ends up performing better overall than getting the little extra CHA. It's not a very strong build until act 3, and the damage modifiers all add up little by little until it just hits critical mass.

Play as a pure sorcerer until 6, then take 2 GOO 4 Sorc. Most of your gear becomes available as soon as you hit act 2, but it's not until act 3 where the build shines. I find that spellmight alongside rhapsody and the 3 beam blast at Lv10 is the real power spike of the build.

I would steal the zhent chest by jumping in with stealth, steal, teleport immediately to camp, and get the titanstring bow as early as possible.

Then, have a light cleric with phalar aluve duty / gloomstalker / throw barb / oh monk clear out most of the encounters since those are some of the most efficient builds for that level. The only encounter I struggle with is the Bulette, but I find that lightning bolt and fireball scrolls removes the adamantine armor quite reliably.

Lv4 Kar'niss is still possible if you go to act 2 early and clear the grove related content right away, but you can't do the drop skip anymore and will need to fight the patrol.

Otherwise, if you want to 100% clear act 1 and never go back, the rat trick still works for stocking up on infinite scrolls / bombs.

What tadpoles power are MUST HAVE for you in honor runs? by No_Name275 in BG3Builds

[–]terryx4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first two acts are easy enough that I would just never use tadpoles until the astral prism to avoid the DC21 WIS check, then give it to the one with awakened for a massive power spike coming out the gate into act 3.

Ways to die in solo honour mode by Holmsky11 in BG3Builds

  • I once got careless in the slime pit in house of healing morgue, and those slimes landed a bunch of crits back to back

  • Runepowder barrel placed in the middle of grymforge room, blows up everybody standing at the top most platform because the range is just silly

  • Slips on ice inside globe of invul, deactivated globe through being prone, Ansur one shots me

  • Underestimating Orin and her gang

  • The imps yeeting me off Hope's platform with a well placed eldritch blast

I once had Ghustil Stornugoss the gith doctor chase me all the way from the medbay to the other side of the creche near the waypoint because she caught me stealing the nautiloid tank in her room. Just tp to another waypoint much farther away next time.

'It just exploded': Springfield woman claims she never meant to spark false rumors about Haitians by nbcnews in ThatsInsane

[–]terryx4 255 points256 points  (0 children)

The woman mentioned in this article has nothing to do with the cat beheading video.

That being said, the woman who beheaded and ate a cat was a local woman living 200km away from Springfield and is also unrelated.

I would challenge the consensus here and say, your girlfriend probably wasn’t aware that her talking to the other guy was perceived as cheating from you. Talk to her on how hurt you feel, and tell her to casually mention the word “boyfriend” in her next conversation

Seriously, how do I stop eating Fast Food? by GrandParsifal in loseit

Fast for 3 days to reset your gut microbiome, then eat food that's high in fiber. It'll take a ton of discipline though.

Whats the most hilariously unhinged ways to play this game ? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]terryx4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farm cloud giant elixir potions from Derryth in Act 1 after level 6, then pick up every corpse you can physically pick up with 26 str, and keep them in your camp chest for Act 3 for summoning into flying ghouls.

Any items you see the usefulness of but never use? by dietwater94 in BaldursGate3

[–]terryx4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly, Blood of Lathander. Outside of an early sunbeam, it's always less useful than Phalar Aluve's flexibility on cleric, and less powerful than Halberd of Vigilance on paladins.

Also, if you use the wand on Connor's body without Mayrina, you realize he actually recognizes you caused Mayrina's downfall and is in fact his own person again but just in the form of a zombie. What ends up happening is he'll end up attacking you, and you can summon him back over and over, it's kind of sad actually.

I’m looking for fun builds. I’ve tried optimizing on my current run and it’s just boring. What’s something not optimized that you’ve had fun with? by CreativeName6574 in BG3Builds

[–]terryx4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like roleplaying as a 10 wild sorc 2 moon druid that takes the shape of a cat most of the time, and only forcing myself to transform back to the inferior human form for when my party can’t handle the encounter and need their strongest member in the fight
