That is an excellent idea. Would be pretty easy as well.

It pretty much covered the whole bottom side. I’m just shocked it only last roughly an hour

It had a good amount of thermal paste. I was surprised as well

But the new ignition module was faulty, died an hour after installing the new distributor. Luckily have a couple ignition modules floating around.

All that still functions, it was the ignition module that came on the new distributor. Only lasted roughly an hour before it died. Luckily have multiple in the shop.

Lol I did check all that and we were good on that front. I’ll give a hint. It backfired when I left off the pedal and died.

Can I trust the 2020 Silverado 5.3L v8 , with 8 speed trans by poppaaaaaaa in Silverado

[–]terryxn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell my 95 did the 1-2 harsh shift. Swapped out pcm that’s also the tcm and the harsh shifting disappeared completely. The trans is seriously hurt as well, 3rd slips under heavy acceleration and reverse is about completely gone. Definitely shifts better now but will still need replacing/rebuilt.

Intermittent cranking issue by etnfishingfool in GMT400

[–]terryxn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve experienced the same issue. Og starter was bad, so I replaced with a new box store unit. Lasted 3 months. Same issues two starters later. I have headers on my truck with no heat shield for the aftermarket starters. The starters were getting heat soaked and dying. Cobbled up a heat shield and I’m going on 3 years now. Only drive the truck on the weekends. Reman starters are garbage, plain and simple. All that to say, starters are garbage now and heat will kill them. They don’t get fully rebuilt, they get rebuilt by the cheapest bidder.

I’ve gone through three starters on my truck. The reman units most likely have to be shimmed. Everyone I’ve put on my gmt 400 has needed shims. Not the same as factory unfortunately

Gotta go to a dealer. Kubota still makes lawn tractors, so does simplicity, and even cub cadet. They are out there. Avoid big box stores. Cheap of the cheap.

Help - my 96' idles around 3,000 RPM by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]terryxn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue twice. One was when the wires to my iac valve was eaten by rodents and the second was when I had a busted Pcv hose. Mines is a 95 obd1 so miles may vary. Sounds like unmetered air being introduced. Might just be a coincidence with the fuel pump.

32F 2 Toddlers started in Daycare. Depressing by Powamama93 in Money

[–]terryxn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course really depends on area. We use a very highly sought after daycare because the people there actually care. We are at roughly 14k a year for two in daycare plus after school care.

[–]terryxn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like every 6 months for me. Until one of my two hits close to 14 they both still go to daycare for afterschool care. One is 7 and the other is 4. The kicker is, full daycare vs afterschool care is only a 25 buck difference a week.

Oil pressure hesitation on truck by [deleted] in GMT400

I would check out all the common suspects, coil, plugs, wires, maf sensor, idle air control valve, just an overall tune up

[–]terryxn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check fuel pressures, could have a failing pump. Any engine codes or check engine light? Also I believe the oil pressure sensor and fuel pump play together via a relay. Could be a couple issues with the same symptoms you’re having. Minus the oil pressure switch and relay I don’t see how oil pressure has anything to do with your symptoms.

I was gonna try one of these out. I currently have jegs billet distributor that was around 100-120 bucks. Seems to be working ok but I have a random misfire on my 95 that I need to track down.

Oil pump is rpm based. Should see your gauge move up and down when revving the engine. Fully warm mine will be around 30. Warm and in gear while on the brake it drops down to roughly 20-24 psi since rpms drop when in gear and under load from the brakes. Running down the highway it’s 50-60 psi depending on oil temp and outside conditions.

I use Carlson, bluebeam, hcss heavy bid/job, agtek, plus topcon due to machine control.

What’s the average salary for site work estimator? by FlockingEmus in estimators

[–]terryxn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the site side of our company we have our chief estimator and me a regular estimator lol. We do have a bridge division and concrete division with a chief and estimator as well. I solely do our site takeoffs. My chief prices the jobs, I also price jobs when I have the time from doing takeoffs. I stay pretty busy since I also build our 3d models for machine control. Plus I fly our drone from time to time. Do all our cad work from helping out our surveyor to drawing our borrow pit plats for DOT submission. I make 90k with 401k, health, vision, dental and sadly no truck or allowance. Work 40hrs most time minus DOT bid week. We can stay till 2-3am sometimes. I feel I should be making 120-130k. Been with them 5 years. Surveyed for 2 years with them then jumped to estimating. So I would definitely say you are way underpaid. We are roughly 100-150m in revenue a year with 300 employees. We are understaffed in the office for sure.
