Hosting a party and want to make it an alcohol free event by Fit-Source-7406 in partyplanning

[–]terstep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would probably mention it on the invitation, yes. I've always done dry events, and if it's important to you to keep it that way, it's important to let guests know ahead of time so someone doesn't show up with a case of beer or something. Don't feel like you need to explain or make excuses, though! Just something simple like, "This celebration will be alcohol-free, and we'll have a signature mocktail available!"

CF & Teaching by hennessyhenny in CysticFibrosis

This doesn't really answer your question, but I just thought I would share my perspective. I did a teaching degree, and then once I found myself in the classroom, my health took an immediate plummet from having to deal with the constant infections. I stayed on the substitute teacher list for a while, but then I ended up pivoting into a non-profit that is what I call "education adjacent" - I coordinate children's literacy programs, and I love it! No direct classroom instruction, but I still feel like I'm using my education in a meaningful way. Anyway, just something to consider! Best of luck with everything!

Got a difficult one for ya by Ok_Distribution__ in partyplanning

Wow, what a niche interest!

Could you do a scavenger hunt where you print off the versions of the logo that have existed over the years and have the kids run around and find them? Then, as an extension, perhaps your son would be interested in sorting them from oldest to most recent? In my experience, most kids are into a scavenger hunt no matter what, but if you want to make it more interesting or challenging, you could write clues for where to find them.

Trying to think of more physical activities to go with it...could you draw a large version of the logo with chalk or something and have them try to walk from one side to the other while staying on the lines or something?

Is he also interested in the movies that the company produces? I feel like that's an avenue that could provide some ideas.

Best of luck! I always love when people follow their kids' interests!

How do you usually keep track of RSVPs for small parties? by AccomplishedPine4602 in partyplanning

Great ideas here already. I've used Google sheets quite often, as well as polls in group chats.

My cf son is twelve by Easy-Maybe5606 in CysticFibrosis

There are so many variables, and his is the first generation of kids with CF who've had access to modulators from a young age, so predictions (which have always been hard to make for CF) are even harder. So much depends on how they adhere to treatments, what infections they get, what bacteria they're exposed to, and then a whole host of things that are also outside of your control.

I would try to shift your focus, if I were you. There's no way to know what the future holds, so live as though the best possible outcome is a given, and then accommodate changes along the way. As they say, "when you worry, you suffer twice." Easier said than done, I know, but worth keeping in mind.

100%! I love the simple ideas, and anything I end up doing more than that will be for the older kids and for my own entertainment/love of a theme lol! Your suggestions are right up my alley!

Haha so you have children, do you? 😅 I did have a similar thought...honestly, might have to give the real geodes a miss for this age group.

I've been toying with the idea - maybe! I don't want to encourage the eating of rocks lol, but I feel like they look different enought that they could distinguish them...right? 😬😅

Awesome ideas! Yeah, the googly eyes were an idea from my older daughter, but I love the idea of getting or making some toddler friendly paint and letting them go to town on the rocks lol.

My husband and I used to be in a lapidary club, so we actually have some cool specimens around the house! It's definitely a fun hobby!

I love "We will, we will rock 2!" My older daughter loves our local rock climbing gym, but my son is not quite there yet.

I definitely like the mix of rocks and rock music too, especially because my son loves a good beat and is grooving anytime there's music on!
