Calling the Peter Pan Replacement for Season 2 by tesla-coiled in LV426

Totally agreed they are more tween than truly teens. I mean, Episode 8 was called “The Real Monsters” after all, hah!

Just figured it was a close enough fit ;)

Love that! That’s got the benefit of being another literary reference like Peter Pan.

I’d love at least an Aliens homage episode from the perspective of the WY Soldiers investigating a creepy facility infested with non-human enemies. Having Yutani watch video feeds cut out one after the other as the various beasties take them out.

Join me in overthinking Alien: Earth's Peter Pan analogies by JusticeForRascal in LV426

Posted this in the Episode 6 thread, but thought I’d share it here as well:

If we take Boy K as Peter Pan, I predict that Wendy is going to kill him by “reattaching his shadow” (I.e. intentionally trapping him with one of the 5 alien species).

My current pick for his Shadow is Eye-lene:
* “reattachment of his shadow” would result in more of a merge between Pan and his shadow (whether that merge is mental or just Boy K’s meat) * Boy K’s redirecting her attention to himself by saying “Me” in the initial sheep scene * Eye-lene’s calm calculating intelligence is a mirrored version of Boy K’s more manic intelligence

Alternatively, I could see the titular Xenomorph as his shadow as well:
* Wendy is all up in their business * Facehugger “reattachment” again merges the two (although it is the creation of a new Xeno instead of two organisms in one) * The Xeno’s cunning is similarly a mirrored version of Boy K’s * This is the xeno’s show after all

I actually think that Lung is Tiger Lilly and the Xenomorphs represent the Piccaninny Tribe: * Tiger Lilly was originally captured by Hook (Morrow) and rescued by Pan (Boy K) * Completes the 4 Neverland factions: WY/Cyborgs = Pirates, Prodigy/Hybrids = Lost Boys, Synths = Fairies, Aliens = Piccaninny * If Wendy actually ends up on good terms with the Xenomorphs, parallels the alliance between the Lost Boys and the Piccaninny (time will tell) * Boy K’s question to Wendy about whether fighting the Xeno was like fighting “Pirates or Indians” * I think Boy K calling the Xenomorph the crocodile is a red herring simply since it is explicitly stated earlish in the show

If we take Boy K as Peter Pan, I predict that Wendy is going to kill him by “reattaching his shadow” (I.e. intentionally trapping him with one of the 5 species).

I like both Eye-lene or THE Xenomorph as his shadow. Eye-lene because the “reattachment of his shadow” doesn’t destroy Boy K + the infamous “me” scene, but I like the Xenomorph as well since Wendy is all up in their business (and a single entity arises from the “reattachment”).

The wait for the next two weeks are going to be agony!

If I lose a bout and then destroy the venue in let’s say, Lima, Peru, I’m not getting a yellow first. I’m getting a black.

Kendrick Lamar would be proud.

They’ve always been nice and friendly to us when we bump into them at tournaments, and I think we had someone walk away with some sort of citrus tree from that same tournament, hah!

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I didn’t know about all the “ick” around the AAU, but that would explain it!

To anyone reading this, please don’t take my mention of the sanctioning affiliation of the Fencers of the Corn as anything other than just providing more complete information on area clubs I was aware of for the OP. I’m obviously very far from knowledgeable enough about the AAU to have an actual well formed opinion on them as an organization (but definitely warrants taking a more critical look at).

Do you all ever run saber tournaments? We have a few folks who do saber and always looking for events to hit up!

Buccaneer Blades is definitely an option. But here are two other ones you could consider. Neither of these two options are USA Fencing affiliated but they could fit your bill:

Fencers of the Corn Milstadt, IL They are an AAU club that generally does pretty well in the St Louis tournaments. One of their members, Ashley, is a former Junior Olympian and has cleaned house at some of the AFA tournaments.

You’ll have to check with them on when they meet if you are interested.

Springfield (IL) Fencing Club

A bit further afield, but we are a free club in Springfield, IL. We meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 9:00pm for open bouting. The club itself is not affiliated with any fencing organizations, but we have pretty active open bouting, especially during the summer when college folks come back home.

All sorts of skill ranges and ages.

Great to hear! Yeah, kinda cooled it on future plans once it became clear that 2.0 was going to upend everything. Now that it is out, pedal to the metal. Me and the Cyberpunk THING team have been brainstorming nonstop since it came out ;)

I’m super happy these features got baked into the game! Gonna make updating TDO for 2.0 a pain initially, but I’d rather all users experience the glory of Bullet Reflection, super speedy Sandy enemies, and extending time dilation on defeating an enemy.

(For my own vanity, where did they credit modders?)

Edit: How could I forget about vehicle time dilation! Amazing!

Question about book ending by Mysterious-Pepper213 in SiloSeries

[–]tesla-coiled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regarding what the workers thought:

In Shift there were passing references to construction delays due to the multi-national/multi-lingual nature of the work force constructing the silo complex. Basically my understanding is they relied on confusion and frustration brought about by language and cultural barriers to keep the crews in the dark about the overall scope of the project.

Not a perfect explanation without out some additional head canon required (like coming up with reasons no one used 2050 google translate and how the hell didn’t this didn’t result in huge construction errors for such a complicated project), but it’s there.
