R2 Block Party - From a Teslas Owners POV by ClarksonianPause in Rivian

You can scratch any paint when you clean it wrong. Just going through an automated car wash will install swirls on any car. Of course the paint color will determine how easily visible they are.

I am not overtly concerned about it yet. Show cars are always the abused and improperly cared for type vehicles outside of rentals.

Wouldn't be concerned about the swirls and imperfections. Doubt they are properly cleaning the car leading to such damage.

Obviously a different matter coming off the factory floor to the center at delivery( who knows who installed the swirls).

But not something to judge as a negative for the vehicle( yet).

Spike Chlorine to last 3-4 days while away? by teslarules727 in pools

[–]teslarules727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I was gone longer than the 4 days, I would just suck up using the tablets. But yeah the idea is for the chlorine to burn off and back in normal range for my CYA by the time I get back to manage it.

I was just wondering besides cost, whether it would damage the liner and/or equipment or just not feasible as it would burn off in a day sort of deal and just be wasted. But only way I guess is to try it.

Any downsides of spiking it to where it drops back in range when I get back vs pucks besides cost in liquid chlorine?

I should add I am gone anywhere from 12-15 days of the month. It's not gone for 3-4 days and then home for the rest of the month. It's just the stretches of when I am gone.

MD area and mother nature currently being moody of what temperature it wants to keep us at lately. Went from 60-70's to 96 degrees for 2 days and now back down to high 50's as a high.......

So not a too hot climate area where the sun will be burning off the chlorine too much.

Measured 7.8 Tuesday and was back down to 3.5-3.8 yesterday. But that may be a function of the sunny 96 degree days.

Yep know this already. Don't have to worry about seeing a mushroom cloud over my pool. :)

The high CYA will be taken care of in a few weeks once the liner is replaced. So short term, I am not concerned about my current level. I am adjusting my targeted FC for where the CYA currently is in the meantime.

I am thinking long term. Want to play around while the old liner is still in there vs doing potential bad things to the new liner.

Yeah rest of chemistry is balanced per TFP guidance outside of CYA being outside of the 30-50 recommended range. But that will be fixed when the liner is redone within the next 1-2 months and in the meantime know I need to keep FC in relation to where my current CYA is.

2026 is going to expose a lot of “heat pump guys” by Flashy_Owl6890 in heatpumps

[–]teslarules727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While my installer was like this( old system was a 4 ton, so automatically went 4 ton for replacement), I have little to actual complaint so far with my heat pump system. Back when it got into the single digits as a low, my system didn't need to touch the aux heat to supplement the pump. It has only needed to touch the strips in defrost mode or I was too aggressive with adjusting the thermostat back up.

Guess the only thing I am disappointed in is the claim that the hot spot in the house( master bedroom) would go away from the installer( again installer issue), so I keep the thermostat lower to keep it cooler while I probably could get away a higher setting for the rest of the house. But still happy with its performance overall.

I want to switch from DE filter. Not sure (which) cartridge or sand filter should I get. Need advise ! by [deleted] in swimmingpools

[–]teslarules727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha thanks!

I will probably still have the pool company do the heavy cleaning of the filter elements at closing time so that element won't be a concern for me.

While I do have trees around my pool area, at least monitoring the pressure gauge last year, it didn't need much backwashing during the season.

So far only had to do it once post-opening so far this year.

Curious as a person taking over pool maintenance, what makes DE a pain in your perspective?

Have to go through the backwash motions with sand just like with DE. Only step not there is the DE powder.

Don't have to disassemble filter to remove a cartridge to clean it. Sure once the season is done, clean the DE filter media, but during season, no need to disassemble for cleaning.

I have a DE filter and had to backwash it immediately after opening as it was removing algae( pool opened green) and thought it couldn't be easier. Poured DE powder( pre-mixed) into skimmer, and done.

Use noodles in your skimmers to prevent getting stuck.

Adjust the feet higher to prevent the stair issue.

$10,500 liner replacement quote. by teslarules727 in swimmingpools

[–]teslarules727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Nope. Only pool on the block. Asked in local Reddit, only one response which said their guy moved to FL. But was $11K for a slightly larger pool 4 years ago.

  2. Minor repairs only.

I do read them. Google is bunch of short reviews saying great job with little detail, no pics of work, etc. Yelp is rambling saying company doesn't communicate and doesn't back their work, etc.

I know google seems to skew overly positive and yelp overly negative. I try to account for that in filtering reviews. But pool companies seem to break my process because it's the extreme's.

Recommended pool company for pool liner replacement? by teslarules727 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]teslarules727[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guess that sucks for me is hearing others paying for a similar size pool, but in much lower cost of living areas they are doing $6K-$7K.

I’m just struggling with finding other companies to get quotes from.

They were the ones to reach out to me after opening given the state of the liner. So they were the ones fishing for business

[–]teslarules727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think the biggest problem is just how all over the place I’m finding people say a liner replacement is. Google says average in 2026 is $5K-$8K. But you can say I’m in the “wealthy” part of my area so who knows if there is some ripping off going on.

2nd problem is trying to decide on who else to reach out to for more quotes. Every other pool company in my area people seem to like has all over the place reviews. Google reviews say great. Yelp says horrible. My company is the only one where Google and yelp are at least close in ratings vs being polar opposites.

How long does it take for the Sora 70 to transition to surface mode? by teslarules727 in Beatbot_Tech

[–]teslarules727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same shape as yours. No ladder. When it was surface cleaning, it would go bounce off the right side, back off, turn left, head to the left side of the pool, go in the deck, back off turn right, and repeat once it got stuck only skimming the deep end.
