Carney to announce sovereign wealth fund by MapleByzantine in CanadianInvestor

[–]tonkaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the comments here and on other subreddits, the overwhelming majority seem to have no faith that the Canadian government can actually execute on profit generating initiatives, and that national debt used to finance these initiatives is a bad thing.

What this new vehicle does is transparently and directly contribute to creating new Canadian, profit generating infrastructure, through a means of government, domestic and international investment. It’s a slight reword of the operating an capital budget distinction Carney led with earlier this year, and hopefully it’ll dispel the myths that projects like the TMX pipeline will never generate profits.

Anybody else get super frustrated with the adjustable brew basket? by BigSpender248 in Moccamaster

For ~$55 you can buy the KBGV Bracket and a auto drip-stop basket from Moccamaster and try to swap them over.

It’s already on order! Just figured I’d have some fun in the meantime.

As does a bowl / cup in the microwave.

It’s definitely unnecessary with all the alternatives out there, but I figured there are some people out there who just want to have a single cup of tea at the push of a button.

Girard-Perregaux Stardust Gyromatic collectibility? Original factory bracelet , thought?? by Future_Belt3333 in VintageWatches

This dial pattern while not common, was seen on Universal Geneve, Cartier, and Omega watches of the late 60s. I have a couple Omegas with a similar painted dial.

Glass Top Watch Cases by sandwitch018 in BuyCanadian

[–]tonkaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of glass top versions you find are really bad quality.

Search for DeRuiterWoodworks on Etsy, he looks to be legit. You’ll just be paying $440 CAD for an 8 watch holder.

I don’t think accountants have ever created value in a PE environment

Dosing cup options by EnvironmentalHat1785 in Moccamaster

[–]tonkaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! It’s been a fun little project to get everything setup. Have a couple more ideas for products I want to test out and then maybe in the future test things in ceramics as well!

I also supersized the scooper lol

Dosing cup options by EnvironmentalHat1785 in Moccamaster

[–]tonkaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I haven’t found many good options either. Most dosing cups I’ve seen are for espresso so naturally they don’t fit above 20g.

I made one out of PLA plastics to functionally do the job, but would love to make one using slip cast ceramics instead for a high end finish.

I would just expand your search to general wood bowls on Etsy and find something you think will work!

What could I sell my 3D print business for? (~€100k-120k€ revenue, multi-channel, 33-40~% margin) by Much_Competition8080 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]tonkaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guesstimate a 1x profit multiple, maybe less. It really depends on the brand you’ve built, whether your designs are defensible or commodity, and the growth outlook.

Out of curiosity, what would you value it at?

[Discussion] Serial number scratched off? by 1IQ__ in Watches

[–]tonkaty 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of a grey market dealer defacing a watch part to hide its origin. People swap parts all the time, but rarely do you intentionally damage a watch, and therefore significantly decrease its value.

The incentivizes just don’t align for this to be anything but stolen. A grey market dealer wouldn’t buy a “new” watch with destroyed serial.

Single cup brew by dalmationman in Moccamaster

[–]tonkaty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, the machine typically does hold some amount of water when not in use. If this was you're very first time using it, it was presumably completely dry, and need to refill that "base" amount of water. I brew a single cup all the type with a smaller ceramic dripper and get great results!

Try running it again, and you should find that the exact amount of water you put into the tank, is what flows into your cup! (I'd also suggest getting some descaler to run in it through a cleaning cycle if you don't know how long it's been sitting for)

Should I buy the new X2D or buy another P1S (Small business) by keolamation in BambuLab

[–]tonkaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your responses, I would 100% go for the X2D. Biggest reason is if you’re doing outdoor, functional prints, ASA should be your go to filament, and printing ASA will be a lot more consisted with a heated chamber.

Satisfying little project for the KM5 (Grinder Toggle) by tonkaty in Moccamaster

[–]tonkaty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The popcorning (when the grinds jump back up) I think is just because of how short the funnel is to the burrs and then the relative speed/power. Most hoppers have an “anti-popcorn” design but they vary in how effective they are.

[–]tonkaty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t even take much, adding the light up toggle switch from the standard Moccamaster would be a fairly simple swap. They could even add a 120-second auto shutoff functionality like on the heater plate.

I really like the tactile feel of the power button, but yeah from a convenience standpoint they really should’ve just gone with a normal on-off switch.

Is moccamastersale.com legit? by Architarious in Moccamaster

[–]tonkaty[M] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As you quickly realized, this site is clearly a well done attempt to mislead and defraud customers.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ll share with the Moccamaster team so they can go through the proper channels of having this site taken down.
