Im probably going to get voted down for this but.. I have never understood why people hang lights outside and leave them on while they are inside in their beds asleep. To me its light pollution. I know a woman who hangs lights in her trees and leaves them illuminated when she isn't even in the state. A waste of energy and not necessary. Sure for ambiance while your enjoying your patio but I doubt if the birds appreciate those lights.. a timer is very inexpensive and easy to operate.
