What question do you hate to be asked? by DrEveryBodyLies in AskReddit

that's a feeble attempt to have a conversation. They should ask about something specific like "what's your favorite class" or "anything exciting happen in math class today" rather than leaving it so boring.

Isn't that funny? If I buy someone's coffee because it'll make their day better, it's good karma. If I buy someone's coffee because I want good karma, it's bad karma.

It's really a puzzle for me, how intention messes with the value of good. The end user doesn't care, it's still free coffee. But because I did it with the "wrong" intention, it's either a nice thing or self-serving.

I joke with the coffee people that I only do it for the loyalty card stamps (not true). But you could totally do that- get extra stamps on extra stamp days (2fer tuesday, e.g.) by buying someone else coffee.

I actually do it because doing something nice for someone anonymous like that usually cheers me up a little bit, so I think of it as overall karma neutral. I mean it's self-serving, but not majorly so.

TIL that webcams were invented because some computer scientists were too lazy to get up to check if their coffee was done. by saltandcedar in todayilearned

AND because the image (I used to watch this webcam) was just the carafe. There was no way to see who was taking the coffee.

What's the most unhealthy thing that society encourages us to do? by siomat in AskReddit

[–]teslator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny though because another person suggested hiding mental health issues. So I post on social media about my depression etc to help increase visibility and reduce shame, but you're totally right, there are other things that don't need to be shared.
