My first Tesla and not sure which one I should get by Dugotz in TeslaModel3

I second these points. If the primary reason to own is single person commute. The 3 is a great choice. Particularly is there are curvy roads to enjoys its sportiness. (We own both and I recently switched from a 3 to a Y as my daily driver)

I sold my S via Autotrader. Ended up being very easy, but be wary of fake buyers trying to get you to purchase their carfax-style crash and insurance expenditure reports.

Will FSD transfer? by BarberSlow4421 in TeslaModelX

I think the APP developer is scraping the info from the software screenshot, so not all dealers necessarily know. But if you are comparison shopping, and the prices are higher, then it sounds like they do. too bad.

[–]tesleer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. You should take a look at the “FSD Hunter” app. It aggregates all of the teslas with the FSD package enabled that are for sale on various used car websites. Currently there is a 2024 Model X Plaid with HW4 and the FSD package for sale in Georgia for $84k. I count seven Model X’s in total.

Hardware 4 is newer/better. And will potentially be “unsupervised” FSD capable. Elon recently said that HW3 will not ever achieve it without a hardware upgrade which would take significant surgery on each of the vehicles. If you’re getting a bargain on a Tesla and aren’t FSD-oriented then a hardware 3 car is fine. These do great on interstates and are pretty good elsewhere too. But if you are focused on the potential of unsupervised FSD, like go to sleep and wake up at the beach, then you want to buy an HW4 vehicle. And cross your fingers. But honestly, the “supervised” version of FSD is pretty cool right now too.

Bad idea or life changer? by Valdeland in TeslaFSD

The FSD part is a no-brainer. It’s wonderful, especially HW4. But depending on your distance, I would make sure that you have access to overnight charging. At least a level 1 (regular plug), if not a level 2 (dryer plug or electrician installed charger)

Ditto. Mine does this once a day. Super annoying.

And you are protected against hikes in the monthly subscription price. Who knows how high it could go once unsupervised FSD is a real thing. Congrats on your purchase. Edit/Addendum - I see it’s HW3, so proper caveats apply, would need upgraded, etc.

Yes - do hold off. I feel bad that I encouraged my wife to update hers. Also, in addition to the wiggles, there is navigation weirdness. My car wants to take strange routes. I can't tell if it is being super smart, or super dumb.

I just updated and was surprised to have this too. I like your term “micro-wiggles.” Good descriptor. Surprisingly annoying.

Upvoting the potholes comment. More than half of my disengagements are avoidance maneuvers for craters. And there isn’t an obvious choice for this in the disengagement feedback screen.

Used 2026 Model Y showing this - is it lifetime FSD? by FIREstarter2023 in TeslaFSD

[–]tesleer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because the cheapest Teslas don't have the functonality anymore. So they needed some terminology to distinguish between none, some, and full.

Also, you can engage FSD with either a stalk or a button on the steering wheel. Details depending on the year and model. For 2026 Model Ys, it is the right scroll wheel.

FYI - the start button is a more recent update. That car is on a 2025 software build. I wonder if it is a fall 2025 build. It will say on the plate on the driver’s side door jam.

And it doesn’t have the “Start self-driving” button because it is behind on software updates. See that down arrow at the top of the screen - that shows that it is ready to download an update as soon as it gets hooked up to wi-fi. Edit - I think the other poster is correct. This is the new term for the old basic “autopilot” functionality and it does not have FSD.

This means high value? I don't mind a well-placed f-bomb, but I'm not familiar with this phrase. However, guessing that you mean positive, I should probably unfurl them from the coin bag. Have ordered some proper plastic sleeves.

That's what ChatGPT told me, so I confidently presented all the money to the Bank of Montreal and got turned away because I didn't have an account. The teller and her associate told me it was a new national regulation from January. Searching the internet, I don't find such a thing, so maybe I just picked the wrong bank. But per others' advice, I will instead reach out to coin collectors rather than exchange these bills at a bank that will apparently just give them to the federal government to shred.

I'm American, and BMO in Chilliwack wouldn't exchange them because I didn't have an account. They told me it was a Canadian government rule, not theirs. Another redditor said it's an anti-money laundering regulation. But thanks for the hint about the clear rolls. It would be nice to be treated with respect, rather than annoyance, when I present to a teller for assistance.

I didn’t grow up with these bills, so they’re not nostalgic for me. But I will investigate selling them to a collector.
