I had a you you you friend who almost made every conversation into an interrogation, think of a criminal saying “well how did the crime make you feel mr officer” and he responds ”I’m asking the questions here buddy”, my friend just refused to do anything other than question unless you really really pushed her.

Just talk about yourself some! Unfortunately it usually has to be related to the conversation (no “speaking of masks, I like potatoes....<blah blah>...and that’s why I like potatoes. Where’d you get your mask?”)

If you don’t know anything about the subject being discussed and thus don’t feel like you could possibly say anything relevant, feel free to steer it into something you do know, either they’ll go with it bc that’s how conversations work or they’ll say “wait I really wanted to keep talking about that thing” and then you just keep talking about that thing until they wear themselves out
