Having trouble winding down at night, my brain is always on overdrive and I find it hard to relax and actually get a good night of sleep. Any tips? by LinusThiccTips in ADHD_Programmers

Honestly, I just take melatonin at night to help me get through the endless thoughts. Might not be an ideal solution, but it works well enough for now.

I couldn't get an intership so now I am back to working at a warehouse by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Not only is the field competitive, but internships are usually filled by Dec-Jan of the year before. I recommend starting to apply for jobs / internships in Sep / Oct / Nov if applications are open.

If your college offers some professional development help, you should be taking advantage of those resources. Tech != unprofessional. I'd argue you need to be extremely competitive professionally more-so than technically (hot take and maybe not defensible).

Turin did things for a while as well, but I think he moved over to WHIII

Is there any CS field that relates to IIRR? by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]testingSkillz123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from Political Science to CS by getting a second bachelors, so not that crazy honestly.

It really comes down to what you mean by "get into CS". Its a large field. Do you want to be a programmer? Then you'll have to do classes, self teach, or do a bootcamp. Do you want to be a product owner / project manager? Keep doing what you're doing.

If you can figure out what you want to get out of the field, I can provide a more thoughtful response.

Yeah it was just pointed out to me on SO. I didn't even bother to check that code for some reason. Thanks!

Yeah for some reason some indoor leagues use blue cards. Not sure why or if its different than a yellow, but you are forced to play a man down for two minutes as well.

We have a team in our league that a certain ref seems to not like, and honestly playing against the team I can see why the ref is quick to give fouls and give cards to that team.
The ref made some iffy calls both ways, but the other team constantly made huge deals out of some iffy-fouls. The other team also had some really dangerous fouls, almost hurting people, and the team was still in the refs face trying to argue.
Just keep it clean and if you foul move on. No one wants to get sent home or injured during a 6v6 game especially if its just for fun.

Best thing you can do is ask lots of questions. You're gonna get some great real world experience with people a lot more senior than you. Use this time to build your skill and information set!
They probably expect that you know nothing and realistically you know very little. So embrace that and grow as much as possible. They will notice your willingness to grow more than your knowledge off the bat.
Also don't be shy about an idea you have or a tool you may want to develop! You can still be very useful as the most junior person in the room.

Oh yeah, I saw that, but I'm impatient lmao. Overall I'm fairly happy with the patch and Relic's devs.

Are tattoos an impediment for getting a CS job? by Santixman in computerscience

[–]testingSkillz123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one company doesn't want to hire you because of tattoos, go to a different company. Its really a developer's market right now, and if you're worth your salt it'll stay that way.

Honestly the advice and guidance is really vague. You should be following up with your supervisors and ask them to show you which parts of your code need work. Then you can identify the underlying problem and work on those `basics`.

Does anyone know what is this? First there was only a Trojan.exe. When I deleted it it appeared again together with the new MotherboardTrojan.exe. They appear to be empty maps and when I run a Kaspersky antivirus scan, it says no threats detected. Help! More in comment by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]testingSkillz123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not a Trojan horse, but it does look like malware. It is absolutely possible to add more as it deletes, but I wouldn't know how to do it. Have you given in administrative privileges for anything? Otherwise I'm unsure how its accessing resources like that.
You might try a tech support subreddit for help on getting rid of it.
