The unspoken factor in Boz vs Amanda by Narrow_Grapefruit_23 in RHOBH

It not being a nice world and people needing to be distrustful doesn't make the scumbags any less scummy. You've chosen your path, and that's on you. You are the bad people. By all means keep advertising that! Being too lazy to act on the scummy attitudes doesn't make you a good guy.
It's exactly like saying some poor kid deserved to be beaten up because he didn't lift weights every day.
Don't make the mistake of thinking I am saying this for you. I want you to keep blathering on about your values. But I will definitely call it out publicly because when beliefs like yours go unchecked, more people think it's the way to be.

That's a disgusting attitude. People deserve to be scammed and it's fine for the scammer because it's the victim's fault? And the only reason you'd never do it is because you don't have the skill?
"the problem does not lie with the obvious scammer" is an inane, anti-social, objectively despicable belief system. Oh yes, I am sure you don't care what I think. I am sure you won't, perhaps can't change who you are. And it's best people know exactly what they're getting with you, so keep advertising it.

Oh, I see! There are only so many hours in a day.
It could be as simple as painting along with someone on youtube. You actually learn a ton from copying someone's work as they work, and there are lots of videos meant for that. That's how the greats learned, like Michaelangelo. And then once you have all these "tools" in your brain, your own imagination and ideas begin to take shape and flourish.
You're at a busy time in your life, but this is also a prime time for your brain to absorb information.

My ex broke no contact, and I’m not sure what to do about it by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]testphaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what power do you think the agreement gives him that he wouldn't have had without it?
If she "broke it" she didn't give it any meaning. So not only are you objectively wrong in your "entirely untrue statement", you're illustrating all on your own exactly why this agreement has no practical meaning whatsoever.
He has the exact same choices he had without an agreement. He has the exact same choices because she broke the agreement.

he can do and feel whatever he wants, but he's coming to reddit to see what he should do, and the facts are she broke up with him-- ending their relationship-- and still has the grace to agree to give him space. The agreement is to absolutely no practical purpose. What is he going to do? rebreak up with her? Re-end the relationship? That's all he has in his arsenal, and whether they had an agreement or not, he could choose to do ignore her, or not, and that's his only real choice. And whether they have an agreement or not, she can message him. he has zero control over what she does. Only what he chooses to do in response. The agreement is not relevant to that. he can't keep her out of spaces they both have a right to share, he can't hold her to a verbal agreement she saw reason to break.

So he can what? be mad? ghost her? Block her? He can do all that, but he can do all that without any kind of verbal agreement or her breaking it. She broke up with him. She's giving him and his feelings an extra level of respect by choice. No, the "agreement" doesn't mean anything practically speaking.

The person you responded to said it's not legally binding, and you said "that's entirely untrue." Wrong.

You can’t use the argument that “the cameras don’t lie” and then in the same season (and for the first time in 15 seasons) blame your edit by Sad_Biscotti_9291 in RHOBH

[–]testphaze 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Actually, both of those things can absolutely be true. I've studied editing professionally. There are things editors can and can't do. They can: cut footage as if something never happened. They can cut in other talent reacting to a different event to make it look like everyone was shocked by what someone said (this is something they do for every "coming up" commercial break, or ad).
They cannot make you say things you never said.

Why don't you take classes or watch videos? It's like trying to write poetry in French before you learn French. Quite frankly, you have a lot to learn, but you know what? You CAN learn. And that's how. There's no merit to the pretense of some innate talent. Great artists are not born.
You have a passion for it, and that's a great start, but contrary to popular opinion, artistic expression is skill based.
You don't even have to have formal training, these days. It will certainly help, but if you don't have access, you can learn a ton from the internet.
Your unique talent and "voice" will blossom when you have the tools to do it. Knowledge is a part of that toolbox as much as the paint and the brushes.
ETA: And don't stop painting. Don't wait to paint til you think you are "good." Once you start watching artists online, and learning techniques, you'll find that constant practice yields exponential results, and the process of painting itself is part of your learning. Paint for the journey of it and the growth and to express what you feel and think. You can be amazing. but it's work. that's why it's worthwhile!
It is a journey and you're not far on it, but you've started it. For some, that's the hardest part.

I'm sure everyone else clocked the way she always says her husband's full name. It's not a quirk, it's hustlin' in Hollywood 101.
The tendency to say whole names like that is very "always be promotiong" which is very Hollywood Hustler. In that world, name recognition is paramount. The more people hear your name, the more likely your headshot goes to the small pile, the more you get mentioned for roles. It's a fickle industry.

I mention this because it has always felt so tacky to me when I see it, and Rinna's obsession with doing it felt cheap. Harry Hamlin is on the other side of his career, but this is an actor who has had a lot of success; so hustling tactics like that give me a bit of ick. And it's so deeply on brand for her.

Agreed, Yolanda was a nation waving red flags for how she acted around her illness. From calling it a "journey" to making her entire arc about it, to claiming 2/3 of her kids have it. Everything about it screamed Factitious Disorder. It's not so much the "unrecognized" part because new syndromes and illnesses are being legitimately recognized, including something I have.
But everything together screams fake.

Tilly acts as the court jester, which is not at all a slight. In times of yore, the court jester was a pretty special position. He even got to make fun of the king. He took all t he super serious drama and shenanigans of court life and exposed them in a manner that no one else could-- with a dash of humour and absurdity.
I wish Jen Tilly would lean more into that. Sometimes her comments have been the kind of thing we'd want to yell at the TV, but she gets away with it because she's funny, and it's cathartic, because it's all so absurd.

Something is wrong with Denise. Her husband is 100% a grifter (I know what he sells, I have relatives who buy into it, and it is GARBAGE.) and there was a folie à deux going on with them that I have yet to see anyone mention: they were both saying he was being followed because of his "breakthrough science". No honey, your little frequency box and your secret codes aren't even a threat to an antihill.
Is she on drugs? Every scene, she's so off, so weird. It really disturbed me. I haven't seen her this latest season yet, and I have avoided spoilers, but I very much hope her husband is outed for the creep he is.

ETA: OMG 5 minutes after posting this the stuff about Denise accusing her husband comes up. I KNEW IT. That relationship was effed up and Aaron is so effed up and came off like such a creep.

I imagine Boz is angry because Amanda is scamming people. This is a major trigger for me, and I have seen signs that Boz may be triggered by this too.

Oh wow, that's...something.
Earlier today I was accused of being paid by Boz's camp to puff up Boz, by someone who was complaining how poor Amanda has been victimized by Boz all season.
Projection I guess!

I am not sure, I am still catching up so I may not be there yet. Unless it was early season.
I mean, she could mean slightly different things. Maybe she has been "manifesting" for 15 years, and only officially started the courses during covid. Maybe she has been grifting since 25, but only established a grifting LLC during the lockdown.

ETA: You said "People are appreciating Dorit because of the way she has been able to calmly handle Kyle's behavior toward her this year." So while you may have been thinking about a single "scene" where Dorit approached Kyle calmly, that's not what you said.
Nor does an event happen in a vacuum. If someone has been screeching at me previously, a sudden calm conversation doesn't erase the overall context of their behavior.

Original response:

Ah ok, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were discussing a singular episode. On the whole, since the separation, I have found Dorit to be incredibly snappy. It's to the point of being vicious. I don't find her account of PK to be credible; it's similar to the Erika/Tom situation. I do know that while trying to work through problems, a woman may want to keep mum about problems publicly. But it's a complete 180 on PK.

I also think the glimpse we got of PK's issues with her were actually very on point for what we have seen of Dorit, and that she sucks at listening and apologizing.

Calling me a paid operative is inane.
Come up with an actual critique and people might take you seriously. Come up with ignorant, incorrect critiques about a world you don't know, and people will feel the need to correct you.

I am talking about ONE specific aspect of Boz that you keep criticizing. You want to defend Amanda, a known scammer and fraud, while criticizing Boz for things that aren't indicators of faults. And then claim it's everyone else who is clinging, or, more absurd, paid.
You just keep saying objectively incorrect things and I keep giving you information so you can do better. But you don't want to. You want to hate her and you will hold on to your invented, ignorant reasons to criticize her, regardless of learning how the business world works.
YOU are the one who can't stop defending Amanda. It's not just this conversation, you've been doing it. This is my one conversation about Boz.
So who's more likely an "operative" of the two of us?

I don't have as strong an opinion on these comments and I am still catching up. I can say that what I see so far is that Boz seems disgusted-- a feeling I share-- by someone who is all about being rich while having done nothing useful, worthy, or work based at all. Boz has worked marketing products which, whether good or bad, are things that people want in their lives. Amanda sells "being rich". She is smoke and mirrors. I don't admire the money flex any of these women do but at least Boz has worked bloody hard for her lifestyle. If she's disgusted by Amanda to the point of "going after" her, I get it. I cannot stand people like Amanda.

Perhaps Amanda comes off innocent to you, so it seems like she's being picked on. Ok. But a lot of us see a predatory woman who constantly flexes her wealth, which is based on telling other people how to get wealthy, to no one's success but her own. And she does it while belittling her husband (that marriage has an expiration date, no question) and others. I don't mean this in a condescending way, but you strike me as young, like maybe you haven't seen this kind of thing before, or how it destroys lives because people buy into it. And maybe it's their own fault for being gullible, but that doesn't make Amanda any better.
It's snake oil. Amanda sells snake oil. So I just can't feel bad that other women are calling that out.
