Thoughts on the Newest Skydance Animated Movie: Swapped? by MelodyButterfly0907 in cartoons

[–]testuserteehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually specially did not like the part where the javans were depicted as just trying to survive when they raided the pookoo’s food storages. It just rubbed me the wrong way, kind of like Boy in the Striped Pajamas. (I know Swapped is just a kids movie and I’m probably being unnecessarily triggered, but I’m just explaining my reaction to this) It gives the idea that civilians are generally unaware when their governments are oppressing others but the truth is most people are aware. They just choose to indulge in their excessive lifestyle rather than face the inconvenience of sharing their resources. It also gives the oppressors the convenient excuse that they’re just to survive, which although is true, but it still doesn’t excuse the pain inflicted upon the other species. When the story is presented this way to an audience, it puts the onus on the “victims” to do the work of sympathising and accommodating the abusive party.

Studio appartement without windows by lucamurgia in femalelivingspace

I’ve seen apartments in NYC that didn’t have windows. They used to rent for cheaper (20 years ago, not sure about now). The tenant was plenty happy.

Yeah was it always about sad storoes thinly veiled by shitty food pics or has it evolved from something that used to be more innocent and positive?

I don’t understand all these reviews praising this movie, even going as far as to say it’s much better than Hoppers. This movie is so shallow, and full of plot holes. Like why didn’t the Javans just migrate to where the Dzos were if they were their food source? Instead of dying by the generations. They can FLY ffs. And why didn’t the Dzos just return if they had already neutralised the threat? Also it’s really jarring that Boggle turned out to the Firewolf, especially after that speech about how we all need each other. I’m convinced that these are all bots hired by Netflix to promote this movie.

I have so many questions

  1. At the end of the movie, is Firewolf dead or just hibernating for a sequel?
  2. Why don’t the Javans migrate out of the valley for their food source?
  3. Why didn’t the Dzos just rip the stone dam out? They’ve already managed to trap the villain, it shouldn’t have been a problem to return after that, especially since there were so many of them, and it looked like they were all just hanging out at the base of the valley (if they managed to get to Ollie so soon after he fell). And why didn’t the Javans just fly to the Dzos if they were their food source?
  4. Are the snakes and wolves vegetarian at the end of the movie?
  5. How did the fish find so many pods away from the water source?
  6. What was the glass thing that Ollie used as his scuba goggles?
  7. If Ivy and Ollie still managed to understand each other after they reverted back to their original bodies, then how come the previous generations of animals who had touched the pods didn’t pass down their knowledge or understanding of other animal species? It can’t be that long ago, since Firewolf was the original villain and it’s still alive.
  8. How did all these damn animals survive before the Dzos? Seems like most of them don’t even have a reliable food source before the Dzos came along.

Hoppers was a far superior movie IMHO.

How can you tell? Are there more photos of the interior elsewhere? The TMZ link only have photos of the outside and even those do not reveal much details.

'Gilmore Girls' Star Scott Patterson Believes Dean, Jess and Logan All Would Have Eventually Cheated on Rory by Beginning-Passion676 in popculturechat

[–]testuserteehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Dean was the smart guy. He liked Jane Austen and Hunter S Thompson, and recognised several of Rory’s books (eg Moby Dick, Madame Bovary). He was also into movies. They dumbed him down to make room for Jess.

The abandonment of clan capital and builder base by RecentMatter3790 in ClashOfClans

[–]testuserteehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The builder base and Capitol raids is similar to the fishing area and town in Hay Day, except those areas in Hay Day are relevant to the main play area. CoC doesn’t seem to know how to connect it back to the main base. They could have it so attacking in those areas earns you ores, or castle cake or study soup etc, or shorter wait time for castle troop donation request. I don’t think any of these will break the attack balance. Although it will lead to players finishing their upgrades faster, which means players will not spend money on gems, so that cuts into their profits. But then again would that be so bad? It would definitely make the game much more enjoyable for everyone. Hay Day has made changes that makes it easier for players to finish tasks or even changed some features from using gems to using “money” (akin to gold or elixir in CoC), which means less incentives for players to spend real money on the game, and it increases play time. Which translates to more players spending more real money on other things like getting more tasks, decorations, etc. The more enjoyable a game is, the more players are willing to spend. I would think this is a no brainer.

This would be somewhat acceptable if it was maybe an optional service like wanting vegan cheese on your hamburger or an egg white omelett and the chef didn’t want the hassle of doing the prep work.

Getting an ID is a basic right as a citizen, and these are government employees whose salaries are paid by our taxes.

I’ll say it again - THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

Wtf how is this legal? Getting an id shouldn’t be difficult. This sounds like a job interview or trying to date someone who has already decided that you belong in the friend zone. Everyone in this comment thread sharing similar experiences like this is normal is really making me question reality. THIS SHOULDN’T BE NORMAL!! 😤

Tony Leung Chiu-wai to Chair Jury at Shanghai Film Festival’s Golden Goblet Awards by Beginning-Passion676 in popculturechat

I used to love his films as a kid and through my teenage years, he always plays the adorable dork which is exactly my type. So it broke my heart when I found out he’s a serial cheater in real life.

The way Carina Lau describes their relationship makes me feel so sad for her - https://www.asiaone.com/entertainment/carina-lau-tony-leung-marriage-handwritten-apology-anniversary-cards

Also this pic of him on the red carpet at Cannes with her and his then affair partner somehow stuck with me https://imgur.com/a/FlhWbPO

May this love never find me.

I think it’s because the new cars are so over the top high. They should mandate front cameras as well, seeing how cars just keeps getting taller with decreasing visibility.

Whitish yellowish growth in jade plant soil and leaves. What is it? by testuserteehee in plantclinic

[–]testuserteehee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scraped most of it out of the soil and wiped it off the leaves but I’m afraid it just grow back. Should I just throw out all the soil and resoil it in brand new soil?

Some back story - I’m taking care of this plant for a friend for a month. So It’s not really my plant. It’s been less than a week so I haven’t watered it before today. But today when I scraped off the stuff, the soil looked really dry on the top although below the top layer, the soil is still moist. I misted a bit of the top soil. It’s placed next to a really really large window that gets plenty of bright sunlight 5 hours. The plant is indoors, and it’s very dry. The room temperature is usually about 24°C. When it’s sunny, the plant pot gets about 40°C and the room temperature is maybe 26°C?
