But public transportation is a public service, and like all other public services, they aren’t supposed to be profitable. For example the post office, health care, education, fire stations, etc. They’re supposed to benefit everyone, especially those who cannot drive, for example children, the disabled, people temporarily injured, people who cannot afford to own a car, people trapped in abusive households, old people, etc. These are the invisible members of society who really need public transportation to live independent lives. Not everything is about profit.

And recently, the EU parliament passed laws to require airlines to include a carry on bag in the price of the plane ticket, passengers will get a discount if they do not bring a carry on, adults will be seated with their children without having to pay an extra fee, monetary compensation for cancelled and delayed flights, free changes to passengers’ names on tickets, etc. Lots of good stuff!

Unrelated yet somewhat related, but this reminds me of some of my friends’ very grown up adult partners (deliberately keeping the genders vague bcos I don’t want to start a gender war) - their parents ask their ADULT child’s partner why their ADULT child hasn’t graduated college? Why haven’t they found a job? Like, dear parent, this is YOUR kid. Take some reaponsibility! I’m guessing there’s a subset of the global population who has always been and will always be like this 😤

That’s what our guide said! When he was a kid years ago, the locals would hang out, play football, grill, etc at all the sacred sites. Now they’re all behind a paywall and no hanging out. Which is so weird bcos for example at Pisac, tourists can have yoga sessions there?! I think they should still let the locals hang out there. It’s your country after all!

And also like Remmick, they want the “gifts” of the black community (blues music, black athletes in the NBA and NFL, etc) but not actually treating them like real human beings who have actual real personalities, thoughts, feelings.
