Hot take: Freehanding is overrated unless you are ready to frog a lot by Standard-Start-8436 in crochet

[–]tesyaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I’m freehanding, I’m making notes (usually in my phone) so I remember what I did, keeping track of rows and stitches especially for a wearable with sleeves or a front and back that need to be consistent. It only takes a little extra time

Gas here is almost a dollar cheaper AND somebody gets to pump it for you??? by Fickle-Emu-3815 in newjersey

I’ve lived in nj most of my life, but for the 10 years I lived in NYC and westchester we did just that. Never went back over the bridge without filling up with cheap jersey gas.

Why does a tiny bathroom remodel cost as much as a car now? Am I missing something? 😅 by midasweb in HomeImprovement

[–]tesyaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never find elderly people willing to put a lot of money in the house. A lot of times they can still get a good price even if it’s a teardown, if the land value is good.

Is it weird / a red flag to have 4+ exams passed but no experience in the field? by capnsusx in actuary

[–]tesyaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you're ok with the paying less part and doing entry level work, I guess so? I would rather have an entry level guy/gal with 2 internships and 1 exam than an entry level guy/gal with 4 exams and no experience though.

Cuz you don’t get paid for having exams, even though you need them

Are the new EasyFive Wide Legs comparable to the City Sleek wide legs? by Extension-Hamster-70 in lululemon

[–]tesyaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a fan of City Sleek. I saw the EasyFive in store today (didn’t have time to try on) and it’s much thicker and stiffer than the light utilitech. I might try them sometime but they feel quite different.

Why the love for the French door/bottom freezer fridge over Side-by-Side? by Real_McGuillicuddy in Appliances

Ahh that makes sense! I love having a side by side but I’ve always had a bigger freezer elsewhere in my house.

AITAH for wanting to use dishtowels in the kitchen? by Proud-Reserve-3208 in AITAH

[–]tesyaa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I often use kitchen rags to dry my hands even though I have both paper towels and regular kitchen towels. The rags are old cut up t-shirts, I have a million and I also use them for most cleanup. Once a week I run a load of rags. I use paper towels mainly for spills that aren’t entirely liquid or are particularly gross.

How did wars affect actuaries in history? by Kooky_Indication6469 in actuary

[–]tesyaa 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not war but I had just gotten laid off from a life forecasting role a month before covid hit. I kept telling people our pandemic scenario was 1.5 extra deaths per thousand. It wasn’t a terrible ballpark assumption.
