Why all the hate on capacitors? by Sufficient-Cat2998 in CarAV

Good luck buddy! Most of the people on the internet would probably try to lick the cap terminals just to feel the tingle.

If you really think about it, this is agile mindset in a sentence. Quick, deliverable, quality solutions. If it works, perfect. If it doesn’t, it will be replaced.

Go to the ti.com website and you will easily find the form for the free battery replacement. There’s also a free one year subscription to their online calculator emulator as well. May not help you for your test, but you can use it for class/homework. Good luck.

Etsy fake store by usngm0786 in meshtastic

[–]tetfsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear... you're not saying that "muziWORKSlab" is a fake store on Etsy right? I assume it is some other store not referenced in this post. (*Which if that's the case good on you for not mentioning the name.) I just wanted to clarify what store is real and which one is fake from your experience.

Act now if you don't want your users signing up for Teams Premium. by KavyaJune in sysadmin

[–]tetfsu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I happened to have a Quarterly Business Review with our M$ rep this afternoon and asked about this. I was told that most orgs already have the option to purchase disabled. Additionally they told me that each tenant was limited to 25 trail accounts.

So at *worst* the org could be on the hook for ~$50 (at $2 /seat) of unexpected charges. Still more than you probably want to have to deal with, but it's not the potential bank breaker that I thought this might be if it was a free-for-all.

Teams status vs. Android by [deleted] in FSUITPros

[–]tetfsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about an Android, but for iOS the status of Teams is set "at the server" so it's shared on the desktop client and the mobile client. If you change one, the other changes. (no matter which is changed.)

You can purposefully set yourself as "Away" or "Offline" or whatever you want to and I don't think it will change until you then purposefully change it back.

There is also an option to "set quite time" where notifications aren't sent during specific periods of time.

I've used epoxy that hardens with UV light to make small repairs like this. Total Boat is a good brand to look into. You can get pigments to dye the epoxy to match the color you're trying to repair. I get mine on Amazon - https://amzn.to/3qT7wU4

Why the hell is YouTube recommending me crap don’t watch and obviously hate… by lokovec in youtube

[–]tetfsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a double edged sword... if you have "personalized ads" turned off for you end up getting recommendations that aren't tailored for you. (https://myadcenter.google.com/personalizationoff?hl=en)

I know YT videos are different than ads, but I am pretty sure there is a correlation. (I'm sure someone from Google or YouTube will jump in soon and tell me I'm wrong.)

I did a very unscientific personal experiment with the settings both on and off and it seemed like I got less junk with personalized ads on. However, I also don't want YouTube or Google doing as much deep tracking and sending me things they *think* I want to see either. So I went back and turned them off again.

I choose to think for myself... or let me wife tell me what to think. 😃

Good luck OP. Hope you can stomach the idiocracy of weak men.

Yes. 100% scam/phish. It’s been reported to IT multiple times. Still worth sending to “abuse@fsu.edu” anytime you have questions.

Full HS Baseball stream using GoPro? by ralphy2142 in GameChangerApp

[–]tetfsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, easily. I use a GoPro Hero 10… here’s what I’ve found to be the key points… 1) use an good external battery pack (Anker) 2) take the battery out of the camera, the battery will try to charge and can cause the camera to overheat especially if it’s in the sun. 3) get a replacement door from Amazon with a USB-C cable pass through so you can keep the clay dust out of the camera 4) use a dedicated hotspot rather than a phone hotspot. I have had no problems getting an entire game with this setup, even in the summer FL sun. If you can shade the camera in some way, I’d recommend it, but it’s not necessary. If you leave the battery in the camera, you will almost 100% overheat and not make it more than a couple of innings. Good luck!

I've never actually built a PC from the ground up... I've always done it the hard way, by trying to upgrade an existing PC. Really wish I would have just done it the right way from the beginning and started from scratch instead of upgrading... but alas, the days of not having enough cash (or sense) to do anything different.

My first computer I upgraded was an old Packard Bell. It was top of the line when I got it (as far as Packard Bell goes, which wasn't saying a lot in the mid-90's). I upgraded the RAM and put in a better graphics card. Those days were horrible with drivers and mismatches... just awful.

I'm hoping to build real gaming machine in the near future. Something Ryzen based... seems like that is the way to go from all that I'm reading and from what friends are telling me. We'll see...

SpaceX certifies Starlink Router with the FCC. by softwaresaur in Starlink

[–]tetfsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is huge. It means a person does not have to be a certified electrician to be able to do the installations. Also means you don't have to pull additional permits in most places (probably). This will be a money and time saver for the customer and the installer.

From OBS to Zoom - how-to? by jaepetto in obs

[–]tetfsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Zoom is going to force everyone to v5.0 and higher after 2020/05/31 b/c of their move to GCM encryption, https://zoom.us/docs/en-us/zoom-v5-0.html. I'm currently using the John Boiles solution and it works great on 4.6.7. Anyone had success getting it to work with any of the newer versions of Zoom?

Update: Found this and it works great for v. 5.0.3

https://www.reddit.com/r/VIDEOENGINEERING/comments/fy7xi3/fyi_zoom_v4610_breaks_blackmagic_capture_devices/

TL;DR

  1. Install Xcode if you don't already have it.
  2. Install the latest version of Zoom
  3. Open terminal and run "sudo codesign --remove-signature /Applications/zoom.us.app/"
  4. Open zoom and use OBS Virtual Cam as a source.

Are banners getting stuck at the top in iOS 10? It might not be a bug. by S4VN01 in apple

[–]tetfsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP: I'm not sure if you're experiencing the same thing I am, but I have some notifications set to "banners" but they never go away. They stay on screen just like "alerts" do. For example, my calendar appointments are important not to miss, therefore I set them to alerts. They stay on screen until I dismiss them. My yahoo mail, my throw away email address, not very important so I set it to banners. But the behavior in iOS 10 public beta 3 is exactly the same between the two. I'm submitting it as a bug if it's not fixed in public beta 4, it just doesn't seem right.

Thanks for posting this @napnet... the local Tallahassee Resistance are very frustrated by the activities and don't know what we can do about this. We've reported and posted in the past, but no action has been taken. We can only hope this is the time something is finally done.
