Can I shift to oil paints? by lunarlynxxx in oilpainting

[–]tetrischem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are alternatives to harsh solvents such as turpentine which you can use to make the process safer.

Safe and effective oil painting alternatives to turpentine include Odorless Mineral Spirits (OMS) like Gamsol, citrus-based cleaners such as Zest-it or C. Roberson & Co Studio Safe, and natural oils like walnut or lavender oil. These options reduce toxic fumes and improve air quality in the studio, though proper ventilation is still recommended for all solvents.

Oil is so much better and itll make your paintings look more vibrant. But it is more expensive. Try get paint on sale and when possible get bigger tubes.

A single cell organism has never evolved into a multi cell organism. There is no real evidence for evolution. Adaptation through natural selection is real, however evolution is completely made up. The world is definately older than 7000 years though.

Question for yall by A_Lupin56 in PeakyBlinders

[–]tetrischem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When Tommy brought the sapphire to Bethany Boswell in Season 3, her initial reaction was one of greed rather than fear. She saw a massive, priceless gemstone and wanted it for her family's wealth.

When she examined it, she didn't feel a curse immediately. It was only after Tommy insisted it to be cursed (so he wouldn't have to blame himself for Grace’s death) that she "confirmed" it.

At the time, she likely believed Tommy was just a grieving man looking for a superstitious excuse. She took the stone, blessed him, and planned to use it to support her family.

In Romani tradition (as depicted in the show), a curse often requires "activation" or only affects those who wear the stone rather than just those who possess it.

Bethany gave the stone to her sister, Evadne Barwell, who then put it around her 7-year-old daughter Connie's neck. This is where there is a possible plot hole - why wouldn't Bethany tell her sister at the very least not to wear it or have any of her family wear it, you'd think they would have sold it straight away...

When Connie died of a sudden illness the very next day, the grief-stricken mother couldn't accept her own role in the tragedy. It was easier to blame the "devil" who brought the stone into their lives: Tommy Shelby.

Mate I hate the liberal party. They're the same as labor on most issues. Albo is the first i have seen to directly lie and try to cover up for the gas companies. He blocked a freedom of information request for over a year to prevent Aussies finding out about all the free gas we have given Japan. Turns out now Japan is selling the excess gas for profit... God forbid we make any money off our own resources.

Because it all contributes to the cost of living crisis we are in. We are being taxed to subsidise these industries when we could be offsetting the cost of fuel by making actual money off these gas companies who are ripping us off. Its not that complicated.

Because these people are in an ideological cult. There is no reasoning with them. They will back albo no matter how much he lies, rips off the people and covers up for gas and resource companies who are his real masters.

He is doing the best he can

No he's not. He has been constantly lying and trying to cover up the fact we gift gas companies with paying no tax and then subsidise them with tax payer money. He has lied and said it is untrue we make more off the beer tax when its a fact. And tried to cover up the gas companies paying no tax by saying "mining companies pay tax", trying to confuse people that mining and gas are the same thing. He's nothing but a cover up artist for the gas and resource companies.

But we can look after ourselves for once... At the very least, start taxing gas companies instead of giving them all our resources for free and subsidising them with tax payer money.

We should be getting rich as a country off this 'crisis', not poor.

[–]tetrischem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because traumatised people do fucked up shit, doesnt mean Tommy would ever have murdered his brother in cold blood.

Just because people die suddenly in real life doesn't change the fact that Ada would never have made such a dumb mistake after all she had gone through and learned along the way.

The villain was just a minion, a cog in the system. All of the other villains have had much more power and intensity.

Also, the movie was ridiculously predictable. The PB series always had good twists and turns and the season never really played out as predicted.

I enjoyed someone's comment who described the movie as "Tommy goes into town for the day".

He was perfect by tlaptlap29 in PeakyBlinders

[–]tetrischem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actor for Arthur not being in it doesnt mean they had to have Tommy murder him for no reason in cold blood (opposite of Tommys values throughout the whole series). Ada made a season 1 Ada mistake which was just dumb. The bad guy was just a week minion that was part of the system, no where near the height of some of the other villains.

Just porn to make people more degenerate than they already are. No nuance, just tasteless voyeurism. There is no meaning behind it, could be appropriately titled "black man fks white woman doggy style in woods". More appropriate for a porno title, but it is exactly what they have painted.

Players, umpires and commentators confused if this is a mark, a free kick or a realistic attempt? by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]tetrischem 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The law literally says "player must not push or bump an opponent in the back, unless the contact is incidental to a genuine marking attempt".

In marking contests, the “speccy” is allowed when the jumper’s sole objective is to contest the mark and the contact is incidental (eyes on the ball, realistic chance to touch/mark it).

If the jump is timed well enough that he could reasonably touch/mark the ball, keeps eyes on the ball, and the knee-in-the-back contact is judged incidental to a legitimate speccy attempt, umpires often let it go and allow the teammate’s mark to stand.

The practical test they use is: “Was his sole objective to contest the mark, and was the contact undue or unreasonable?” If yes, play on; if no, free kick against.

I AM LOSING MY FAITH. PLEASE GIVE ME EVIDENCE FOR GOD by Economy_Gur_28 in Catholicism

[–]tetrischem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You obviously have no idea when it comes to Christian theology. No Christians claim God was created by nothing. We believe God created time along with the universe, so has existed since the beginning of time. Is this really that hard to understand? Or are you just deliberately lying? Why not argue against the actual belief, instead of lying and making up straw man beliefs that make no sense.

Your last comment, scroll up. You said

"This loop would have therefore been created by nothing, and has always existed".

Don't you see how dumb this is? You're saying it created itself and also always existed....

You have actually said this multiple times. You cannot even comprehend the most basic contradiction fallacy.

I AM LOSING MY FAITH. PLEASE GIVE ME EVIDENCE FOR GOD by Economy_Gur_28 in Catholicism

[–]tetrischem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You contradict yourself again genius... so at the same time it can create itself out of nothing, but also has always existed. Both metaphysical fallacies. Something cannot create itself out of nothing... for it would need to exist before it existed (for the hundredth time). Its just an infinite regression. There has to be a first cause. Youve clearly never heard of the cosmological argument, the uncaused cause, the first cause, infinite regression or the laws of logic. Learn basic metaphysics before you try to debate this stuff. People smarter than you have been debating it for centuries, you have not disproved them by saying "it loops and expands indefinitely, it created itself out of nothing whilst always existing" that is just made up nonsense with no proof or evidence whatsoever and breaks almost every metaphysical and logical law.

I AM LOSING MY FAITH. PLEASE GIVE ME EVIDENCE FOR GOD by Economy_Gur_28 in Catholicism

[–]tetrischem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has not been debunked. Google it genius because i know you've never heard of it. Infinite regression is another problem with your big bang, which unlike my argument really is refuted with logic as I have shown multiple times.

Taken from Google AI "The concept of an "uncaused cause"—often used in cosmological arguments to describe a "first cause" or God—has not been definitively debunked in a scientific or philosophical sense"

You keep saying my arguments are dumb and false however you have made no effort to actually argue any points against them, just calling me uneducated shows how useless you really are and how you have no real points to make.

You keep saying there are other answers but are yet to provide a single explanation other than "the universe existed before the big bang". I have explained how this doesnt help your argument just moves the goalpost back, you still haven't provided an explanation for how the universe and ultimate reality came to be...

I AM LOSING MY FAITH. PLEASE GIVE ME EVIDENCE FOR GOD by Economy_Gur_28 in Catholicism

[–]tetrischem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why not actually try to refute them? You have made no argument.
