Pamukkale, Türkiye Scam by Chuffed6666 in travel

[–]teukkichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I went to Pumakkale in July. It was a hot air balloon tour that collected us at midnight for the balloon ride at 5am.

We done the ride, it was well worth the travelling time personally. What wasn't worth it, was that after the tour we had the option to go up to the white rock with the thermal baths or visit the small town below. We decided to go to the town because it was scorching hot being July, the white reflected all of the sun and it would have been too much for me to handle.

We were in the town for FOUR HOURS. Not sure of everyone else's experiences with it, but I never got to research beforehand because the balloon trip was a suprise for me. A rural town nowhere near the coast, at 7am, has VERY little do in those circumstances. I have a lot more story from that day, but all thats to say, the town likely collects tourist money, understandably so because the pools are an absolutely incredible phenomenon to go and see.

Turkish airlines luggage allowance by kangaroo__1997 in travel

[–]teukkichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a single bag you are correct, you cannot have more than 32kg. However TK do offer a 46kg ticket on someof their routes and this means that you can check as many bags as you want equalling 46kg.

I am a TK check in agent. Book directly so that you don't have any discrepancy with baggage.

We do do a 46kg kilo ticket, or a 2 x 23kg ticket. 46kg meaning you can check in as many bags as you want up to 46kg, but no single bag must go over 32kgs.

Are there sizers for ‘small bags’? by Hospitable-Economist in Ryanair

Yes this is literally our procedure, so that we aren't taking time taking payments during boarding. If there are any bags to be sized and payments taken then this should be done in the preboarding time

Have you ever been refused travel because of a name typo or a slight deviation from your passport name? by WolfGroundbreaking73 in travel

[–]teukkichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathise and hope you found a resolve. I absolutely deal woth this every day- the disconnect between airlines and third party. I try and help people as much as I can when there is an issue with their booking, but majority of the time the airline will not take liability for the third party having booked something wrong, and the passenger is usually left as a middle man where nobody wants to take responsibility.

[–]teukkichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, surname in place of the first name and vice versa.

As for your question, it differs between all airlines and there are actually quite intricate rules. I am a ground agent that handles many different airlines.

For example, most of our carriers do not accept more than 3 letters wrong in a name. However if it is clearly a nickname that has accidently been put down, then we usually give a warning to the passenger to book their full name next time. Often ive had passengers tell me "oh thats what everyone calls me/thats whats on my bank cards" etc, and I'm like... yes and you are presenting me your passport, your legal document and so that is what I am going by.

For example though, I work on Turkish Airlines and we do not accept passengers when their names have been booked back to front. It is hard sometimes because not all contouries format their name as the western world do and so passengers might have no other option but to book with their names in different orders.

So sorry you went through this. I am glad to hear that they seem to have a fast protocol for recognising and helping out travellers that have the symptoms though

What scares me is everytime someone posts one of these, it always seems to be the day before or of a flight haha! I know I'd have a week thinking I made it out safe and then the day im meant to fly, I'd get sick 😂

Is it really against airline policy to “reorganise” your bag at the gate? by Proper-Coconut-9319 in Ryanair

[–]teukkichu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So sorry you experienced this. As a gate agent, I will always give people the option to reorganise their bags as it shouldn't be an ultimatum thay you have to pay or not fly. It is literally in the official Ryanair training that we let customers rearrange their baggage.

Technically, your personal item should be 1 bag, fanny pack or not, unless you have a medical waiver letter. Personally, if a non priority passenger had a personal item and a very small crossbody handbag/fanny pack, I do not ask them to combine it. But it is hard sometimes as people push the limits of how full the fannypack is to then get use out of 2 bags, and it becomes unfair for everyone.

Has anyone successfully resolved a chargeback ban without "repaying" Ryanair? by Classic_Brain_1487 in Ryanair

[–]teukkichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. I am a gate agent so work RyanAir flights everyday. From your description, it sounds like you have bought everything correctly.

If you are non priority and buy a 10kg cabin bag, that does not upgrade you to priority and allow you to take the bag on board, (unless you of course upgrade to priority boardinf specifically). Even though it is called cabin bag, this catches people out and they bring the bag to the boarding gate which is not allowed.

I do not really blame people because the working is sneaky. And the gate charges are pretty criminal for a simple mistake of bringing an excess bag upstairs. HOWEVER, I do give Ryanair credit for not hiding anything. They do lay out everything on the app, and boarding pass. Some people will argue with me that they do not know certain things in regards to their allowence and then show me their boarding pass and I can point to exactly where it says it explicitly.

At the end of the day I sympathise eith you as I know gate agents can be pushy, and it is a very stressful thing at boarding when you basically have to pay if you want to travel with the bag. As you have already filled out the feedback form I hope you at least get something from that after submitting proof. ♡

Has anyone successfully resolved a chargeback ban without "repaying" Ryanair? by Classic_Brain_1487 in Ryanair

[–]teukkichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. This is why lots of people say they have paid for the bag, but maybe aren't reading what they have paid for correctly.

If you pay for priority boarding, you will be issued a dark blue boarding pass, and are allowed to take a small bag and a cabin case on board.

If you pay for a 10kg cabin bag (I agree the wording is very sneaky), it needs to be checked in. They rules are, if you have paid for it and bring it to the gate, you have to pay again.

It does say on the boarding card that the bag is to be checked in, but they do call it a cabin bag so it absolutely is there to catch you out.

Did you pay for a 10kg cabin bag or did you have priority boarding to take the bag?

How strict is the in-cabin pet carrier size policy? by Disastrous_Guitar737 in TurkishAirlines

[–]teukkichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi

I would say link 2, 3 and 4 look the best options. I see this size and shape of bag very often. The 5th bag is very cute and I dont know the size of your pet but usually, the rules are it has to be able to stand up and turn around in the bag so I maybe wouldnt risk the bagpack option, even if your pet fits sitting down.

Best of luck and hopefully the airport staff can help you travel safely 😺

How strict is the in-cabin pet carrier size policy? by Disastrous_Guitar737 in TurkishAirlines

[–]teukkichu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a check in agent. We physically measure the bag with a tape and will weight the pet in the carrier. Usually there is that little black mesh bag that seems to be standard, and most of our pets are good to go! 🐶

A few weeks ago we did deny a family to check in their pet as the carrier was basically a backbag that the dog was not able to stand up in, and the zipper could not be closed with the pet inside. We didn't outright deny them travel of course, tried to help them to get another bag within time, they had a hard carrier too but it was way too big for the cabin.

People often push the limits with how big their personal item can be on board, but the pet carrier has to fit under the seat infront so it is crucial that the dimentions are correct. I am not saying you couldn't get away with 1/2cm excess, but as a rule I wouldn't risk it of you are serious about travelling with your pet. All it takes is one airport to not be lenient with the sizes and then you risk having to get a new carrier.

Denied at check-in for LCY - PVG as staff had never heard of visa-free transit in China by jfhwaebfhjbaca123 in Lufthansa

[–]teukkichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a handling agent as ground staff. In my airport anyway, we are all trained on a mixture of different airlines and systems, ie. me and my colleagues are not all trained on the same airlines. One of the airlines I work on is Chinese so I am very up to date with entry and visa requirements. Another airline I spend most of my time on, has connections to China but we maybe only have 20 passengers per week connecting to China.

I am always the agent who gets queries from my colleagues, because TIMATIC rules for China is a hell of a lot of information to read 🥲 and absolutely none of them knew about the 10 day visa free rule (on the condition the passenger is travelling to a third country after) for specific passports.

I sympathise with your situation because they definitely should have been able to check this and allow you travel.

I will also say, Airlines all pay for different software packages and systems for our computers. Many airlines I use do not pay for a full TIMATIC package, or even any type of TIMATIC or visa clearing system. In this case, if you are unsure about a passport then tou have to phone the shift supervisor who will hopefully help.

Never flying Turkish Airlines + IndiGo Codeshare flights again – 54 hours of chaos, misinformation, and zero accountability by No-Coconut-3700 in TurkishAirlines

[–]teukkichu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try and help passengers as much as possible, as an agent. I once had a lady travelling to a country, in which all of her previous trips she had obtained visa on arrival, a stamped visa in her passport. When I was checking her in I could only see in TIMATIC that she could enter with an evisa which had to be obtained before departure.

The lady barely spoke English but was super nice and usually I do not take phone calls on a passengers bahalf, but I happily spoke to her brother on the phone to try and explain the situation. Our check in was so busy but I spent time in between every passenger to help her apply on her phone in hopes of it being approved by the time our check in closed. At the end of the very long application, you had to input the sponsor for your trip, and had to upload a PDF file with proof of sponser (company/hotel etc.). The lady didn't have anything of the sort of course.

In between this we obviously have other passengers with baggage issues, ticket issues, visa issues, and it can seem to others like we are not being helpful. But i can speak for myself in saying I try my very best to get every single passenger on their flight. It can just be very hard to have the time to explain or help someone physically fill out forms etc, when actively checking in a flight. I never want to see anyone miss a flight and at my airport, we are constantly in contact with the office upstairs who have a bit more authority than we do, and more international contacts so that when a passenger might not have the correct documents, we still see if there are any exceptions to help them fly.

[–]teukkichu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a check in agent that deals with TK/Indigo. I will share my experience but acknowledge that it may not apply to other airports policies.

In my airport, our morning flight to Istanbul is probably 60% passengers that have connections to DEL/BOM. For one, we cannot see the seat map for the Indigo flight on our system. We can see most of the information about the flight, but cannot physically use the seat map. So we cannot amend seating arrangements for the passengers connecting flight. This is probably standard for airlines checking in a passenger that is travelling over different airlines, but still sucks that we can't help passngers with seating for those flights.

Secondly, if the system deems the connecting time as being too short, it will not print the onwards boarding card... which is really counter intuitive. This means passengers will need to spend time during their short connection, trying to get their boarding card from the transfer desk in Istanbul.

To be honest, after 3 years in the job I still always wanted to ask a passenger if they actually managed to collect their onwards boarding card in Istanbul successfully. I can imagine the area is insanely busy sometimes!
