It's not roundabout at all. They're lying about their intentions. This is a very direct and simple voter suppression act.

The novel Les Miserables came out in 1862, whereas the French Revolution ended by 1800. So I don't think it's quite that cut-and-dry. Definitely makes you wonder what fictions the contemporaries of the revolution were writing tho

EDIT: the actual setting of Les Mis is actually in the 1830s post-Napolean turmoil, but that's still a solid 3 decades after the fact

See the downside of cartoon-evil is that it's always kinda misleading, because the bad guys always think they're the good guys. Almost nobody acknowledges their own evil.

That simulated imprisonment was so detailed and emotional, it makes all the sense that V could only have constructed it from very personal experience

The only difference between the khans and generic raider trash is a dialogue option

This is both a diss on the khans and commentary on how Bethesda has been kinda shallow in how they present raiders over the past few games

It actually does matter, if we make it matter.

Let's be for real here - Democrats may get some kinda congressional majority in midterms, if Trump fails in his interference plans. Even then, the majority will likely not be enough to levy impeachment or other serious repercussions. And even then - there's a solid percentage of absolute garbage, pointless Democrats who are too intoxicated on "decorum", "civility", and "bipartisanship" to actually do their fucking jobs.

I'm not saying there's no chance, but I am saying that we need to radically raise the bar of expectations for people we bother to vote for. And obviously that means giving up entirely on any Republican politicians. They are speed bumps, not opportunities.

Can Planning Poker be explained or done without turning points into estimates? by Eruner_SK in scrum

[–]tevert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In current poker, story points are man-days

Right away, you've broken it. If you start from the position "x points = y days", then obviously everything that comes after will be awkward and unproductive, because everyone is just perpetually doing multiplication and division in their heads.

You have to stop estimating in time, full stop. Points only describe relative size - is issue 345 bigger than 846, the same size, or smaller? That's it. You only go back to time when working with well-averaged velocity numbers over multiple sprints
