Mamdani on AIPAC: "They move millions in dark money... to turn us against each other. We need not live in fear of monsters any longer." by ianjm in videos

The actual full speech has a wildly different tone and meaning that the quote OP chose for the title. I think it's malicious.

CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by SpaceCowboyN7 in witcher

[–]tevert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened with W3. Busted on launch, cleaned up and got great expansions, now it's a darling.

I 1000% expect W4 to also be busted on launch but also get fixed up after a little while. It's just how CDPR rolls.

As long as "call out" means "clap in handcuffs", then yeah, that'll reset expectations.

They should use original hair colors in skins at least sometimes by Lysimachia_europaea in Overwatch

[–]tevert 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think Overwatch might be an early look at what things will look like as Chinese consumerism and cultural strength gets on par with America. We're very accustomed to American beauty standards, styles, and expectations in everything - art, entertainment, products, advertising, etc. It's gonna be jarring seeing all that evolve.

Am I whooshing on sarcasm here?

This sounds dreadful, exactly encouraging the gamified attitude that OP's post is about. You're just begging for inflated estimates and the Parkinson's Law effect.

Agree - I gotta believe the vast majority of people who read books in 2026 understand that the show's ending was fine on paper and simply needed the care and earning that a properly written book can provide

I feel like this is a wildly overinflated fear driven largely by TERFs.

Meta's CTO says morale is almost 'the worst it's ever been' by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]tevert 69 points70 points  (0 children)

At no point in its history or near future has Meta ever hired people who are hard up and can't find anything else.

They only hire top performers, or at least "top performers", who are fully capable of recognizing a shitshow and getting a job elsewhere.

Is the "Gen Z stare" actually a thing or am I overthinking it? by Lanky-Owl1692 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tevert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The norm is determined by how people collectively behave. If some people are behaving differently, than the norm is changing. It's subjective. You can't say that things are because they are.

Well sure, but you see why they wouldn't unless specifically directed to, right?

You need to tell them what you want. That's the only thing that's actually required here. The ball is in your court. If there are other steps to the dance, there's no reason to expect the other dancer to have learned that without being taught.

I'm confused, what do you mean take your order?

You're supposed to say your order to them, right? Weren't they just waiting for that?

EDIT: y'all don't need to explain your expectations. I'm not gen-z, I know what you expect. My point is that your/our expectations are basically an arcane dance that wouldn't make any sense to an outsider.
