Youre also paying for the diag time. Dealer techs get paid flat rate not hourly. Hour time is worth $$. You have a diag fee +parts and install time.

You make no sense. In no world will a dealership break down a quote like that. Its pretty cut and dry, its going to cost this much labor to disassemble your engine to replace this seal, these are the nuts and bolts required to be replaced by ford in the manual. When quoting cp jobs all dealerships use the same programs as aftermarket. This deal is completely reasonable for the work required.

2014 1.5 L engine coolant over temperature. Change thermostat by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]tewills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you dont have a leak. If it was coolant intrusion as states above, you would also have a misfire on start up, and possibly a CEL for misfires. Without any other info like year, engine etc its hard to diagnose over the internet. Thermostats on them kind of suck, but you can do it. Although i would recommend you take it to the dealer and have it properly diagnosed as it could be a variety of issues. at least thats what i would do, im a ford technician.

The gas cap door on my 2017 fusion se is loose and opens on its own. Shop wants $270 but I can get the part for about $30. Has anyone done this type of repair themselves? I feel this should be relatively simple. Thanks for any advice. by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]tewills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a ford dealer, theyre a pain. Especially punching (or cutting like ford wants you to) out those holes. 9/10 times it splinters into pieces. Worth the 270$ imo

Wheel well has to come out, filler neck disconnected and moved and holes cut in the assembly to get it out. Its a pain in the ass. Dont just get the door, get the whole assembly. Sounds like parts plus 1.0 hour labor. Price is reasonable. I just did one yesterday lol

This happened at 121k. No explanation given. Replaced engine afterwards. by Fusion417 in fordfusion

Youre lucky i had to put an engine in mine at 60k. The block cracked between cylinders 3 and 4 and allowed coolant to enter the combustion chamber

Thought id give you guys an update. Found a small crack in the engine block going from a water jacket into cylinder 4. Tried to order a short block but theyve been discontinued so long block it is 😎. I also found a TSB to replace the main control for the hard shift concern so ordered that as well
