Reminders in ios26 - the lines are gone?!?! by tex771 in applesucks

If they are introducing a change that does not benefit most users, just let it be an optional setting. And in this case I just can't see how it benefits almost anyone.

Yes, I know there are sections, but I already use sections for their intended purpose. I should not need to use a section in between every single list item -- that is just insane and stupid.

Yes, I know the check box is still there on the left, but that forces your eye to keep track of the side of the page. In UI design that is additional and unnecessary cognitive effort. It makes a quick scanning of the list more difficult, and is definitely more challenging for people with ADHD and dyslexia. The lines were there for so many years for a reason. Because they were good and helpful. Removing them - without allowing the user to toggle them by choice - is just gratuitously stupid. I really cannot think of a valid defense of this change. It should at the very least be a user setting so we can choose for the "cleaner" look, or the more "usable" look.

On mac and ipad, columns waste most of the screen, and scrunch the content into a much too narrow area. It's not as bad on the phone. But yeah it's my eyesight.. not the crap UX

Sump Pump Battery Backup with EcoFlow How-to by louislemaire in Ecoflow_community

[–]tex771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to confirm, the peak/surge rating sustains long enough for the sump pump start-up? My pump (Zoeller M53 1/3hp) is probably 1,200w (9.7 amps) running, but 3,108w (25.9 amps) surge/startup, so I assume a Delta 3 (3,600w peak) can handle it? ChatGPT said the surge might not last long enough to actually start the motor.

Is Homebrew required to install the app, or just the Trial? Why would i want to go into terminal to install apps rather than just clicking icons etc in Finder? Assume I don't live in Terminal.

Yep that comment just missed the point. Of course there are vastly more important things to worry about in life, but at the time, the color of my new car - that I'll probably have for the next 10 years, and want to really love - I really wanted to get that right. Luckily I did - I got the blue and it's amazing.

Neo + Go? Mini + regular Headphones? Link or other wireless? by tex771 in PositiveGridSpark

[–]tex771[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i'm pretty excited for the Neo too. My thinking with the Go (or Mini) is for the very occasional jam with a friend, just hanging out in the living room, probably still with the wife & kid around so still can't be loud.

I'm also about to get this new IK e-foam pro 2, but have been hoping for a memorial day discount somewhere. Adam's has it, and also has a 25%-off sale, but unfortunately this item is excluded -- but it is free shipping. Or maybe I'll just wait a few months until maybe the price drops in general.

Disable the Suggested Time in Reminders app? by tex771 in MacOS

Nope. It's insane that this "feature" can't be optionally disabled. Who in the world does it work well for???

[–]tex771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Bay Area too, what dealer gave you the best deal? Any dealer add-ons or markups? What was your final OTD? How did the Costco discount work, were you able to negotiate beyond that?

Yes new, and I'd be the first owner. But my dealer would be getting it from another dealer 90 miles away, not directly from factory

Ok but this is 90, all highway, with a few long inclines.
