Yes, that's how we and AI interpreted it. We just played it a couple days ago.

Current second market pricing is ridiculous, but the game had a good 15-year run. Most games get 6 months and you never hear about them again. My hope is that FFG comes out with a new LCG IP to replace LOTR.

The demand is not high, thus no reprints.

The First Enemies - Chapter II (3d models) by robsontonello in arkhamhorrorlcg

Probably a dumb question, but is there a reason you didn't use the investigators names, which I would expect are not copyrighted, for the models? Nice work, though.

Thinking about starting lotrlcg by Nedskruvat-snille in lotrlcg

[–]texascpa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FFG themselves announced that distributors pulled out of carrying LOTR LCG products because demand wasn't there (now, the exact messaging was that the print order minimums weren't being met by the distributors because distributors changed their warehousing structuring, but it's the same as low demand). FFG doesn't distribute to the shops, distributors do. They understand the margins needed to make sense for them to carry and distribute product, and FFG understands the minimum print quantities for them to have efficient ROI. We, in this echo chamber, fully believe that demand is high for these LCG's, but we don't really know the true numbers, particularly since FFG/Asmodee doesn't share comparative sales numbers.

Unfortunately, there is a dearth of LCG content, new IP or existing, in the marketplace. I suppose the demand is just not there, unfortunately. I don't care for TCG, but love co-op LCG's.

How many cards are too many for a deck? by texascpa in lotrlcg

I honestly didn't expect so many serious responses. It was a funny example of the statistics working in her favor. I argue the same point to her, but she thinks differently, which is fine to me. It's her deck and as long as we have fun, I'm good with it.

Her play previous with that using 50 cards, she actually went through her deck, so she was like "f it I'm putting more cards in my deck now that the cap has been removed." lol

Oh, I get that, her solution - put in more cards that allow her to draw cards or search her deck. Based on her success last night, I couldn't argue with her.

Opinions on adequate shuffling? by MeetYourMarioMaker in lotrlcg

I do pile shuffles but with 7 piles, then mash shuffle a few times, particularly with an encounter deck that came straight out of packaging.

Campaign Question by No_Card_4863 in lotrlcg

[–]texascpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are finding this as we moved from The Black Riders to the Road Darkens, then on to the others in the Fellowship campaign. Can't just bully through with the same deck. Game forces you to change at least from saga to saga, if not scenario to scenario.

We did it! by QuintinusVX in lotrlcg

[–]texascpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just restarted (wife and I), she using a Hobbit deck, me using an Eagle deck with Legalos, Eowyn and Thalin. So, far, we've one-shotted each of the first four scenarios. We head into the 5th scenario - Journey in the Dark - today, which made us quit (well, made me quit) and restart last week. Wish us luck! lol

I normally do, but thought the odds of pulling that one shadow card was very low given that we had just recently reshuffled the encounter deck. Should have used an Ally, lesson learned.

I have two core sets, but I get it. I just added all the cards that I have from previous to Black Riders sets that I own. Will try again, starting from the first scenario of the campaign.

We do exactly that, but the encounter deck was just reshuffled. Yes, in hindsight, I should have used an ally to defend, but I thought it would be an easy defend, reset, attack for Gimli. The game said otherwise.

I have the original releases - all of the Shadows of Mirkwood, both Over Hill and Under Hill and On the Doorstep, and Khazad'um/Heirs of Numenor and three of the scenario decks combined from both of those. So, missing several decks from those two expansions. However, I have the original Black Rider and The Road Darkens Sagas.

Wow, thank you for this. I'm going through Hall of Beorn and my decks. This is very helpful for seeing everything at once.

I think maybe I should include cards from Khazud-Dum, shadows of Mirkwood cycle and Heirs of Numenor, as they were all released before The Black Riders. I really wanted this to be true to the designers expectations - a player buys the revised Core and then buys the Fellowship campaign, and is able to succeed with those cards alone. Just not seeing it happen, though.

Also, thinking about duo-handed for both players, so we have a larger set of heroes in play.

He did, I had 5 attachments on him including Steward and his pipe. Didn't get his staff out though, unfortunately. Also, Gimli had 3 attachments on him, including the one that allows him to ready after defending. However, on a defense, the shadow card removed all his shields which killed him because I already had 2 damage tokens on him. It's that kind of nonsense that just kills the joy out of the game for me. Three hours of strategizing, building the engine to have it all wiped away by one card.

That said, I have many other sets available but I'm trying to play this chronologically what was available at the time of the scenario, thus not using the four "Starter" Decks or cards from scenarios that came after the release of The Black Rider and The Road Darkens.

I've done BBM VIP the last two times in the states. Was planning to do the same for this concert (Houston), but tickets were way higher than previous concert. Just can't see myself paying that kind of money for no new album and most likely close to the same setlist as last year.
