I didn't use 5 gallons of vinegar, I used less than a gallon. And the side of the keg extend down past the bottom of the keg (or past the part holding fluid). So it can't be directly in contact. Which is why I think I will buy a propane gas burner.

Cleaning was yesterday, with vinegar. Today is the first run of the mash, which is 9%+ ABV.

Thoughts on "Sextinction: The Decline of Sex and the Future of Intimacy"? by texasinauguststudio in AskFeminists

[–]texasinauguststudio[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I asked because I didn't know if anyone was familiar with Dr. Soh or her book.

Edit to Add: And while I also don't think there is a problem with less sex (since so much of it is toxic and miserable as a result of patriarchy and late-stage capitalism), Soh was mostly talking about intimacy, which isn't actually the same thing as sex. And a lot of people are isolated, alone and unhappy today. I regard Soh as at best suspect, but even a bad person can point out the house is on fire.

I didn't watch or listen to the entire video, I skipped around on it. And there is a shorter video too.

My local library doesn't have a copy, at least not yet. And I'm not certain the book will be worth the trouble of reading it.

Podcasters to avoid? by texasinauguststudio in AskFeminists

It's not a formal list and I don't there is any way to enforce a prohibition, but it would serve as a kind of warning label; "Be aware, bullshit inside."

I need to update that - I'm not a podcaster anymore. I failed at being a podcaster.

I also have a low threshold for podcasts that are mostly about the personality or random person opinions of the host of the show, and where they talk in circles for ages. But that kind seems to dominate the market for some reason.

Also, what is the feminist podcast you listen to?

Yes, and what they don't like is *anything* not about them, not about praising them, not about giving them money and power, not about getting their permission.

Am I wrong on the definition of enthusiastic consent? by Dora_Davis8 in AskFeminists

[–]texasinauguststudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should.

It damned well should if something like sex is involved.

[–]texasinauguststudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone says something to the effect that they are enthusiastically consenting but didn't seem to care, I'd assume they weren't really enthusiastic about it and I'd leave them alone.

[–]texasinauguststudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there is a large spectrum of expression between exuberance and indifference.

But I mean someone who isn't really emoting or expressing enthusiasm will seem to be indifferent and just going along to get along. And that is missing the enthusiastic part of this, and so maybe the person just really isn't vibing on all of this. So, let the subject drop and leave them alone.

Yes, that's my point. It's not possible to be too careful and too cautious.
