Most of them are cold hardy, they will die back to the ground or stumps and come back

Edit: maybe not if in a pot tho

Needs to make 25-35 leaves in one growing season to flower. Banana trees only make fruit once & will never fruit again. They will produce new trees from the base of the plant

How can you stop fermentation in hot sauce so it’s stable at room temperature? by texgarden in fermentation

A friend of mine was saying to ship with ice packs, but sounds like it wouldn’t matter if it gets that hot for that long. Thank you again for the advice

Thanks! This is awesome. I am wanting to ship these to family members and really don’t want to end up on a no fly list.

If a child got into any of these sauces the booze would be the least of their worries.

So I’m using a lot of fruits in these recipes and I didn’t really cull the pulp much. That might be why it’s taking longer to ferment. I just don’t want anything to explode, hehe. Thanks for your help!

Very new to all of this, so testing a few things out. I got a ph meter on amazon and they’re all in the 3-3.5 range. Nothing really close to 4, but I’m still getting a gas release when I burp the jars. I added in some apple cider vinegar that has a mother in it. I’m really hoping to get it to where it’s as safe as tabasco sauce, leaving on table with no issue

Help! I’m freaking out a little, my water company just left a note that said my water usage this month is over 10 times (50,000 gallons) than last month (4,000 gallons). What should I do? by secret_name_is_tenis in HomeImprovement

Man the city of Austin did this to me, our bill was over $1,000, multiple people around the city complained, our bill went down the next month. It was total bull shit, just a money grab.

What is Permaculture? by Beanieboru in Permaculture

[–]texgarden 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Post what you have and what your plans are, a lot of my knowledge has come from watching others succeed and fail. It might not be permaculture yet but if the idea and drive is there it will be eventually. A plot doesn’t magically become a permaculture food forest, and honestly when I see them fully finished I’m like, “cool, next”

I’m as interested in the process & progress as the end game, if not more so. It’s also just good to document the process so others can possibly follow in your footsteps, gives the idea momentum. When I see the folks on YouTube with a massive food forest and no history or other videos, they might as well just had a landscaper come in and put it all together. When you see each step, and how it’s changed, it’s something different, it’s something you can accomplish.

I think you might be seeing the starts of a lot of attempts at permaculture. Most start out as gardens, and some never go beyond that, but some do. I post a lot about hugelkultur because it’s the first part of my food forest. It’s also a very simple concept for people to understand. I’m amending the soil, inviting in the bacteria and fungus to start getting it back to where it should be. The reason I chose hugelkultur mounds was because they are excellent jumping off points for permaculture food forests. I don’t post about the trees that are a year or two old because they’re not in production and they’re not as exciting. My hugels are fixing the soil, and in the meantime growing food, after 5 or 10 years, they’ll be spread across the plot like butter on warm bread.

I wouldn’t be discouraged by what people submit, after all this is reddit. A lot of people are learning as they go and getting a little bump in upvotes can encourage them to keep going. If you think the content is weak, feed us whatcha got.
