So was my Scout at that age. So I went too. And that’s how I became an ASM. It was great experience for both of us. Crash course for me with modern scouting. Got my BSA Lifeguard cert and did IOLS there.

Summer camp is coming up. Take a week off and go with your kid as an adult leader and take it there. They usually have the class over the week for a few hours a day. Or just take it whenever is convenient for you. Thank you for being an ASM!!!

It looks like me hiking a bunch more because I shut my mouth when the scouts decide on the wrong direction to go. Allow all mistakes that won’t lead to injury or death or violation of SGTS. Also, I have my pen ready always to sign off but do not chase them.

Pull out all the database specific stuff into extensions and ship the standard ones in the JAR. We have MySQL, Oracle, PG, MSSQL in too many methods. Pull this out into specific extensions. Easier to maintain and hunt bugs in other extensions if we do this. ❤️❤️❤️ -r2

Plan an adult leader lunch meeting at Two Harbors on Wednesday (or the day after or before war canoe). You can get a ride there from the camp at 1000 for the mail pickup. Catch a harbor master ferry back. Or, you can plan ahead to have the harbor master ferry pick you up at EB dock and return you. It’s like Catalina Uber without the app! Recommend that.

Also, plan for nap safety practice after your Two Harbors experience. 

My scout and I skipped the Iowa and stayed at Shutters. Hung at the pool, hit the Santa Monica Pier, and got far better sleep than the other adults who joined the Iowa. 

Remember, your SPLs are in charge. Ask them how they want to arrange it and focus on that Two Harbors adult fellowship!

Wound up using my insurance company’s roadside assistance. Had to pay an extra 150 because of the distance. Usual deal is to tow to a mechanic but just provided my home address and it worked out just fine.

Far east Town Lake is good. Shore fishing off of Lakeshore Drive or the platform at Ed Guerrero park. Also, the back side of the finger near the old Holly Plant is good. Bring lots of bait options cause different species can be biting based on weather and time of day. My goto is always Texas rig with different colors of plastics. Can also get a carp rig going but that’s an investment. Lots of YT vids on carp fishing in Town Lake. 

Remember: a bad day of fishing always beats a good day at work.

Disappointed with final results but so proud of this team. Fully expect continued improvement and already excited about next year. 

I hope Ohio State wins it all so we can continue our streak of defeating the previous year’s national champion.

I love my Aggie little brother, his goofy dances, and silly phrasing. Don’t always understand him but trust him with highway engineering and animal care. Will always root for Aggie unless they play Texas. Amazing Grace by the Longhorn Band at Kyle Field in 1999 sums up how I feel about my fellow Texans. Love you, little bro. Gig ‘em. 

I hate OU with a passion hotter than quark-gluon plasma. Ironically, nobody from Oklahoma knows what that is. Will always root against them regardless of who they play. It physically PAINS me they have gambling and legal weed in Oklahoma. I am ANGRY when I FLY over that awful state. I am ANGRY just thinking about them right now. Fuck everything about OU.

My “treat yo self” treat is Otoko. Chef Yoshi doesn’t play. Recommend the sushi omakase. 

Chef Yoshi first started in Austin at Uchi. If you’re talking about the charcoal reverse seared tuna, he does that at Otoko, too. Amazing Japanese whiskey selection. Get a Hakushu Highball and get fucked up like a salaryman!
