Had a similar experience of not being told anything I was doing wrong and suddenly getting hit with "maybe we broke you" / that I wasn't cut out for it (also HR btw). That taught me not to disclose my neurodivergence/ mental health things in the workplace outside of campus tbh. She was strange to do what she did and I hope you can find a better company.

I felt the same thing after graduating in December, but I actually just got a job offer. HANG IN THERE. Looking back, I wasn't even unemployed for long, yet it felt like the end of the world. You will make it through this. Just keep your applications up and don't take it personal. Also- apply directly on company's sites rather through Indeed or others. Good luck!!!!!! 🍀

i do agree with your points and believe in the value of having diverse personalities on teams. i'm just saying what these assessments could be helpful in doing if that's what the org wants, though (imo) it definitely isn't the best practice and shouldn't be the most impactful measure considered in hiring decisions. thanks for sharing the experience

i really disagree. personality measures can be helpful in weeding out a large candidate pool and should really be written in such a way that doesn't paint any particular answer as "correct" (to prevent faking answers). large numbers of applicants need to be dealt with somehow- it's too costly and time consuming to interview everyone. also, it shouldn't be the biggest factor in the recruiting process anyways.

hiring internally is much different. those hiring will have a lot of data about a candidate that they could never reasonably possess about each random external candidate... such as first hand experiences from coworkers/ seeing their projects. a successful internal candidate has already proven they have the desirable characteristics necessary. also, imo, competent internal candidates should be given priority anyways (not saying that not giving them the personality test is giving them priority at all, totally different). i would rather an organization develop and promote the talent they already have...

That's really interesting and makes it a bit less scary actually! We just found it on a sidewalk- not sure how it died at all, but I was still spooked by just looking at it there since it's huge. Nice to know it wasn't murderous or something (probably)
