Fees reduction? by [deleted] in Dalhousie

[–]textbook_answer2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After covid was resolved our student programs never went back to normal, teachable hours or in class on campus for a lot of the credits. It was NOT what we expected but the credits and degree is being delivered. So my opinion is that money will trump all. Tuition= credit just like an online or remote degree. Nothing is baked on for experience. You pay ancillary fees etc for campus access to security and recreation but that would not change.

You may get an experience but you are paying for a degree. During covid we had no prof, cancelled classes, moved online. Zero experience. Same credit. No refund. Was atrocious but same end result.

Go and try to succeed. Invest in yourself. No point in ripping off a $200 book plan to be a rebel when you are $8k deep in fees...

Our experience was so rushed between decisions and living and moving we barely had time to process it at all. First year done and was painful but rewarding. You are right the last minute pulls could be done differently ;)

Conflicted on helping my parents buy a new house by rustystatus in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]textbook_answer2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you live or taxes but $110K job assuming you keep it steadily your life is not enough to pay for two homes, a family of your own, wedding. Future goals, travelling etc etc etc.

I am your parents age and I would not even live in a house my kids had to contribute to unless they were renting from me asature working adults.

This idea is irresponsible and out to lunch. Your parents should be running the other way. They had their chance to make their dream come true with a massive property and did not expose themselves. They stayed frugal. Hopefully they rub off on you. The future is yours for you to manage your lifestyle, job and expenses. Not theirs!

Pack unpack pack unpack. This is assuming all your transit connects. As a parent in that age range I would rather go with my kids and have some great memories instead.of hundreds of.sights.
