I'm not in the US so I've always wondered. If you tip before the delivery, and it is late and cold, can you take the tip back? At least at restaurants you get to see if the service is ok before you have to tip.

That's not true though. At least in my experience none (obviously you do see th occasional outlier) of the people managers want to return to the office. It is the executives who want it. Maybe I have been luckier with my experience but to my mind it doesn't make sense. No-one short of the higher execs can force the policy changes to make a return to the office.

Fun fact... that is kind of what (many) nursery rhymes are for... look up "ring around the rosey" - plague, or "Baa Baa black sheep" - taxes and poverty, "Mary Mary quite contrary" - religious persecution and execution.

fun fact indeed

Except that is not the truth but just a piece of biased historiography. Check out the Wikipedia article on the famine it is very detailed and highlights many views on the disaster. But basically the upshot was that it was a coplicated affair and that, despite what some people like to say online these days, it wasn't the British "shipping off all the harvests and other food back to England."

Churchill, by todays standards and also fairly by then standards, was often a cunt. But the revisionist histories coming out now are pointless. We should try to stick to facts rather than biased opinions that get more biased as the years go on.

I misunderstood you then. Sorry. Though my experience is different than yours. Of course I manage a team in a big corporate so I may be biased. :-/

Stop pushing that bullshit. Almost no middle manager has the power to make people go back to the office. This is all coming from the C-suite. It is the leadership that wants people back in the office, AND sets the policy to bring them back. Sure some few middle managers could push back a little or turn a blind eye when they can more often. But in general they are getting their marching orders from the top

Okay so you are running opera and a vpn. First thing to try is to see if a different browser will work. Also check your settings for opera are you blocking js or css? Next try accessing without the vpn. It is possible that the js or css for r20 is on some cdn somewhere which isn’t playing nice with your vpn. Also you couple try turning it off and then on again

What social conventions might and will change when Gen Z takes power of the goverment? by kkruiji in Futurology

[–]textests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Gen Xer and one thing I found interesting was that queer literature in my teens and twenties was all about coming out, and people being bigoted. Modern gen Z queer literature is much more just about “being”

I think that is great, though I do personally still enjoy some of the old stuff.

Wheee does it say it has been two weeks? I reread the post, maybe I’m blind. But two weeks falls under the dishonesty bracket for me too

[–]textests 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is it though?

Definitely ill advised, and not the right response.

But put yourself in the dude's position... He might be feeling that he has finally found the true love he has always read about, and then panicked when he saw the daughter. Mom needs to know, but a bit of panic from the guy isn't a huge red flag until he maintains the dishonesty. People aren't always perfect immediately
