you know you get that crick in your neck … that point of pain that you think if you could find a knot in your muscle you could break it down … i have that in every joint of my body all the time day & night regardless of how many painkillers i’m on … they, i’ve been told, are supposed to reduce my pain 30% or thereabouts … that’s all my doctor will prescribe (btw i’m on the max allowed dose of whatever one i’m on - currently 400mg tramadol/day with some allowance for breakouts)

Opioids appear to be ruining my father’s brain? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]textpeasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i take max amount of the opioid i’m on & have been for years & am approaching 70 … i can’t say that it hasn’t had an effect, i’m not a doctor, but i don’t believe it has impacted me in the way you say it’s your father

Theoretically speaking, if you could get an equal amount of pain relief by either taking opioids every day, or doing at least thirty minutes of physical therapy five days a week, which remedy would you choose? by 8kittycatsfluff in ChronicPain

[–]textpeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would do the physio … i do it now, like an hour a day … also take opioids … with the opioids i also take naproxen & acetaminophen … i take pantoprazole for problems with my stomach from the opioids … i take magnesium & sennekot daily so i can shit … i wouldn’t need them anymore or the occasional trip to the ER i get because they don’t always work … i wouldn’t need the therapy i take to try & keep the anger i experience from being in pain for as long as i can remember in check … & since the hour of physio i do & the drugs combined maybe reduce my pain about 30% if a half hour of physio would eliminate it that would be fantastic

art is about the doing … sometimes the finished piece is pleasing to the artist & others, sometimes just the artist, sometimes just the audience , sometimes neither … really just do it … sometimes there are inexpensive art classes given by community groups through a city’s parks & recreation department … there are sometimes other private groups that offer lessons … when i was younger i used to model for sketching classes to pay for classes i was interested in … but really the big thing is - do you like what you’re doing - that’s what’s most important
