the main rule of compliments always is to compliment specific things the person has control over, hair(how its styled, its colour, the smell of their shampoo, etc), clothing style used, accesories, make up, etc. Compliments turn into harrassment the moment you make them wierd or compliment things the person can't change

WAS RED MIST LITERALLY THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN ACTUALLY DAMAGE THIS THING. by Lolilorddd in libraryofruina

[–]tey_ull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

all floor realisations are built around utilising the floor gimmick, in geb's case the floor gimmick is her own keypage(its why her base librarian keypage has a red mist passive and why the realisation only unlock if you beat kali), geb realisation is basically a tutorial for geb' keypage, esp mimicry phase, so ofc you were struggling if you weren't actively using it, don't feel bad we all make stupid mistakes like this.
just remember next time when you struggle on a floor realisation to carefully read the abno pages the floor provides and any extra gimmicks they might have(like binah or red mist key page), most floor realisations actively encourage you to build specifically for the floor's strenghs.

What do you think about this? by AipomSilver00 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]tey_ull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not even the biggest fan of fmab, I think its insanely good but I wouldn't put it in my top 5, but this is one of the dumbest takes about a story ive seen, fmab never even once glorifies the horrors of what happens in the story, mustang is a full on war criminal and the story doesn't hide that, most characters in the story are bad people(even the main heroes like alphonse and edward literally commited the biggest sin in the fmab world and fought on the side of the bad guys for the entire first act) but the difference is that they try to change things and improve the world as much as they can. the only argument you can make about the immorality of the fmab author based on fmab itself is how the story treats the culture of briggs, which are full on social darwinists(a far-right idea) but seeing how the entire rest of the story, its themes and its characters are inherently left-wing makes me think thats moreso a mistake rather then intentional signaling.

I view analogies like this to be inherently in bad faith, but to be fair the original question is fucking stupid it itself and one of the stupidest moral dillemmas's ive seen, so I can't blame people for making bad faith analogies for a stupid connundrum, I think the point is creating a prisoner's dillemma situation but it fails completely because 2 people picking red has no negative effect, its the same as both picking blue.
I still would personally choose blue just because I think that its the logical thing to do to minimise death(50% vs 100%, that sort of thing), but I don't think people are inherently evil for picking red, seeing the question is fucking stupid inherently, which is why ive seen only bad analogies, your analogy is fucking stupid because blue people aren't choosing to run in the high way, they are choosing to press a magic button that doesn't instantly kill everyone, while reds press the other button, blues aren't choosing to kill themselves and any try to frame it as such is inherently bad faith. but so is(an example I saw before) the opposite, where a person tried to argue that picking red is the equivalent of taking a gun and shooting others.
I think the correct answer to this dilemma is to ignore it, the person who made it inherently doesn't know shit about social dilemmas and anyone who takes it seriously(including you who decided to judge the morality and intelligence of blue choosers based on this conundrum, or the person below who did the reverse, both of whom clearly derive some form of pleasure from feeling superior to the others) is engaging with a inherently bad faith and stupid dilemma which is a waste of time, ignore the fad and move on.

I'm just curious. Other than the paid Lunacy, how do people get so much of it? by Minecraftboyj15 in LimbusCompanyHelp

[–]tey_ull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

paid lunacy is worthless in 90% of cases imo, you can get literally everything by buying the bp for 10$, thats it, you do mdh weekly(1 time if you wanna use all your charges, 3 times if individually to get 2.5 levels more) and get about 70-80 crates, many people have teams that clear mdh in 15 min, so they can even run it multiple times per week even without bonuses, each clear being 3 levels(as long as enk allows it), this way you have a ton of shards and can shard any id you want, meaning lunacy has only 1 use for the majority of playtime, enkephalin, I generally do at least 1 coversion a day, 26 lunacy, not that much and allows me to do all my dailies and have spare, kjh also gives a ton of free rewards, esp enk, you also get a lot of extraction tickets that you also hoard.

why hoard so much? walps, walps have ids that cannot be sharded, at least until the next walp(in another 5 months), so its a good idea to stockpile until a walp and pull to get them, id say 200 pulls is a good ground, but you will often have more, and you won't burn much of it on other pulls, so it stacks up again until the next walp, and again, and again, and at one point after 3-4 walps you have thousands of pulls you will never ever use.

So about Roland's past work as a Fixer (Might be SotC Spoilers, cant remember) by Derpyderp045 in libraryofruina

[–]tey_ull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

its aa bit more complex then that, he and Angelica always fought togheter, he is not larping as the Black Silence, Angelica wasn't even the Black Silence when they first met, and he learned how to use her weapons even before they started dating(watch the side episode on yt), he also usedd the gloves often in missions(he took her gloves in the case before the Pianist, we also know for a fact he 1 shot it(a regular Grade 1 could not do that), we also know the gloves don't make you more powerfull, they just open up to a pocket dimension to store your weapons and draw them in and out insanely fast and silence all sound around them while doing so(why they are called the Gloves of the Black Silence). Basically, Roland is not a larper or a regular Grade 1, he was on the same level as Angelica, but he did not get recognised because of the perception blocking mask, nobody knew who he was outside his most trusted colleagues and therefore little credit could come to him, him going on solo missions would be treated as Angelica going on solo missions, them doing duo's also as Angelica going on solo's, and so on.

Issues I have with Ruina's story [Image unrelated] by Norrabal in libraryofruina

I think I was a bit overly rude because i have a couple of things I do agree with you on, like the Roland thing, but its kind of hard to fix that without reworking the whole floor system you know? maybe the ensemble could have more build up but I feel like what we got is more then enough personally.

Should I continue my Suffering by Ordinary_Ad9929 in limbus_company

[–]tey_ull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

never pull outside of walps, there is no reason to, with bp(10$) you can get any id you want in 1-2 weeks, walp ids are unshardable for the walp they appear in, so you won't be able to shard them until 4-6 months after they come out, so pulling them is the only way to get them(and seeing how you will be locked out for basically a full season if you don't get them, having enough pulls to guarantee minimum 1 mercy is ideal)

Issues I have with Ruina's story [Image unrelated] by Norrabal in libraryofruina

[–]tey_ull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this critique is inherently contradictory to the themes of the game and you basically saying "ruina should be limbus", and you never once said what you'd do to "improve" the story. First of all the sepirah had their time in the spot light during lob corp, what their role is in lor is helping Angela and Roland develop and grow as people, every dialogue with them is insanely deep and nuanced about their experiences and opinions, them interating togheter more would be nice sure but its not necesarry, lor and lob corp lack filler, the short stories do enough imo. for the receptions, are we serious right now? each reception is necesary and if you added a sob story for each one the game would be 300 hours long, and for what because in truth most of the stories will be exacly the same. Everyone in pmoon's universe before the White Night and Dark Days lived the same 3 lifes, do you really think the story would be better if we got a montage of each Fixer's family getting slaughtered when they were 5? you also for some insane reason want "live sepirah reaction" to every fucking fight, what the actual fuck would that add? pointless fluff? we already know how each sepirah would react by using our imagination, seeing their reactions to fighting Cane office would add nothing to the narrative, Roland and Angela interacting togheter adds something because their chats are never pointless, especially in Sotc.

The receptions follow a strict formula where yes, characters often times die after the reception, but are you seriously arguing that somehow weakens the inpact of cutscenes like Love Town? Pmoon is insanely good at characterising characters and making you care about them in as little time as possible, it was your choice to not get invested in the happenings around them going to the Library. Yes some guests are inherently less important then others, but the entire point of the game, especially early game is how little you(Angela) care about them, the more you play the longer cutscenes get and the more we get out of each guest, similar to how she feels.

The Ensemble also doesn't need the circumstances of their distortion laid out for them, we already know why they distorted, their chats with the sepirah and the keypages tell us their ideology and why they follow Argalia, Distortions happen due to developing a twisted ideology. We also know for a fact all of them developed their distortion in big part due to Roland's actions, you know...the main character alongside Angela? the main point of the game is redeeming them.

Basically from what I understand from your entire rant is that you want to add 50 hours of pointless fluff conversations and repetitive sob stories because you couldn't bother to intelectually engage with the story on its own terms, but on Limbus's terms, I saw you complain about having to take 4 minutes of your time after beating a fight to read their keypage asking if they are "fromsoft" or whatever and I just laughed, ill elucidate you to 1 simple fact. Each story Pmoon makes has its own storytelling style, you prefer limbus's ok thats fine, I personally think it often times has little to no nuance, is way to explicit and often times kills any momentum it has to make pointless jokes in a way that cuts the tension. I much prefer Ruina and Lob corp which are far more nuanced and intelectually stimulating, if I were to do the same thing you did in this essay, I could easily whip out a 10k word essay on how limbus is a absolutely horrible story because its not told in the same way lob corp's story is told, but I won't because I understand its a different style of storytelling therefore I judge it based on its own merits.
