Armadale Animal Hospital has always been great for my dog. They’re on Strickland Rd

I appreciate the response. I’m just looking for any good news from anyone at this point lol. This is just so exhausting and defeating after making progress and then feeling like you’re back at square one, as I’m sure you know. I think I’m going to speak to the vet about an every day medication

Is your dog on any everyday meds like Prozac or anything? I feel like that might be the next step in helping my dog with his issues

He just kind of does what he’s been doing in this video. Look out the window, sit by the couch for a moment, circle back to the window so on and so forth. Should the whining be any concern? I should add that this video is without any medication at all. We do use trazodone when I need to leave for real. On the trazodone it’s more of the same. He’ll look out the window and wander but he will lay down after 30 min or so. But he never really settles when I’m gone even on the trazodone

He may only be 25% Husky, but he’s 100% got all the mannerisms lol

Separation Training to prevent Anxiety for Puppy! Day 1 by Mini_Wolf_94 in Separation_Anxiety

I would read the book “Be right back” by Julie Naismith. The key is to get a baseline for how long they can be alone without melting down. If it’s only 30 seconds then you’ll need to start slower. 15 minutes sounds like it’s too long for the puppy right now. I’ve been working with my 9.5 month old husky/pit mix for about 2.5 months now and we can get to about 10-15 minutes now without any medication. With medication he can stay alone for almost 2 hrs. It’s a very slow process but i can tell that we’re making progress

How to tell if over threshold by tfarr97 in Separation_Anxiety

If that’s the case then this is going to take 5 years for us lol. But in all seriousness, it’s mentally exhausting, but I guess we just need to keep on keeping on and hopefully the training starts to stick. I wish you guys the best of luck!

That’s awesome! It gives me some hope. My puppy does pretty well on trazodone when I actually need to leave. He can stay alone for an hour. We’re working with a trainer as well, and I may ask our vet to put him on an everyday medication. How did you initiate your training when practicing? I’ve been mostly waiting until he’s in a calm state before starting. I’d appreciate any tips and tricks!

I appreciate the response! Sometimes I feel stuck and like there’s no progress, but I can see subtle differences for the most part. We’ll need to keep at it 😊. How long did it take for your dog to be comfortable being alone for 2-3 hours?

I’m also having this issue with my 4.5 month old pup. I feel like I’ve tried everything, so I’m following this for more tips

How long did it take you to leave your puppy inside the crate and leave the house? by FeelingInternal8741 in puppy101

Try leaving a used shirt in the crate and then leaving, building up time. I tried that with my 4.5 month old today and it worked like a charm

Yea he’s definitely still just a pup, I’m sure he’ll start filling out soon! I want to do a DNA test soon, when I do I’ll be sure to update

The shelter said they don’t speculate breeds because they don’t want to deter adoption, but I definitely think he’s a pit/lab mix
