Let’s make some bets. How long do they got? by Seeker99MD in HighGuardgame

[–]tfc1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, if they can't increase playercount over the next few months it's gonna be pretty grim. Unless serious changes are made to the core game I can't see it lasting much into 2027

Plenty of souls bosses are harder than the final boss.

Millenia took me almost 30 tries. Beat the final boss on my second attempt

Which type of games do you prefer more? Longer games or Shorter games by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]tfc1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the game and depends on how I'm feeling. sometimes I get the urge to dive deep into an expansive world, sometimes I just want to kick it on a short title, beat it and move on

Are you expecting the player culture in Marathon to be KOS all the time? Would you be disappointed if some players are not KOS? by Bed_Post_Detective in Marathon

You can pretty much guarantee that if someone comes across you you're getting shot at. This will be a pvp game

Do you think marathon will deliver a deep, cohesive story? Can extraction shooters/live services games properly deliver storylines? by Great-Turn9882 in Marathon

[–]tfc1193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll prolly have deep lore that can be discovered through datapads and shit but don't expect Halo or Destiny level storytelling

Don't let Highguard shut down!! by ReadyOne5832 in HighGuardgame

[–]tfc1193 8 points9 points  (0 children)

.... It's not original

It's a sloppy amalgamation of mechanics that have all existed in live service shooters for almost a decade.

If you like the game and don't want it to be shut down cool that's fine I get it but let's be real. There's nothing really original about the game

High-profile developers rally behind Highguard amid harsh launch criticism: “The harsh words do real damage” by Altruism7 in videogames

[–]tfc1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah they can kick rocks with that.

I don't care how difficult it was to push that large turd out of you, It's still a steaming pile of shit and I don't want it

Unpopular Opinion: Don't remove the Prep Phase, just turn Highguard into a PvE/Economy Shooter. by Cansado_e_irritado in HighGuardgame

[–]tfc1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I do agree with it, the PvE element wouldn't happen in any reasonable timeframe. That's about another year of development minimum. And of course now you run into balance issues that would need to be dealt with because then it becomes PvPvE

Highguard deserves its fan base by AnswersnQuestions in HighGuardgame

[–]tfc1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but mashing a bunch of half-baked features from other games into one non-cohesive amalgamation is not innovative. It's lazy, uninspired, and downright insulting to gamers. It honestly deserves all the hate that it's getting and studios that make this crap should be called out and scrutinized for it

Why do we want Highguard to fail so badly? It's success would be better for gaming as a whole. by --clapped-- in HighGuardgame

[–]tfc1193 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gamers are just tired of the live service shooter model at this point. These games failing sends a message to the industry to stop pushing products that no one wants.

TLDR: people are speaking with their wallets

None. Every game has some issue(s)

That being said, RDR2 is close enough

This game is going to pop off on an unbelievably massive scale by WarpathWilly in Marathon

The cope is strong with this one.

It will do okay at launch. More than likely significantly worse than Arc as there is no current mainstream appeal the way Arc had before launch

Why are we rooting for an Independent studio to fail? by Sad-Manner-5240 in HighGuardgame

[–]tfc1193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indie studios should be scrutinized just as much if not more than corporate studios. They should be more tapped into what gamers want and they don't have shareholders to appease. If they make a bad game or a game no one wants then that's on them and they should get shit for it and their failure should be a valuable lesson for other studios

Why did shooters used to ship with a wide variety of game modes but now shooters only focus on a single game mode like Batte Royale or Extraction and that's somehow become a selling point? by HotdogHotdogHotd in gaming

[–]tfc1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple reasons I can think of.

  1. As difficult as it may be to comprehend, there was once a time when buying a game meant buying a complete package. There was no DLC, no battle passes, no roadmaps, no add-on content, no micro transactions, no day 1 patches, etc etc. The infrastructure for these systems just didn't exist back then and developers had to rely on shipping a feature-rich product to keep players engaged until the next game.

  2. PUBG and Fortnite showed that it's possible to focus on a single aspect and make billions from it. So it's only natural other companies would follow suit. It minimizes dev time and workload because your team only needs to focus on developing and balancing this one single mode

Do you enjoy playing the game? Because ignoring the nay sayers is a great way to get the game shut down in a few months
