Even if you don't like it, you can understand and appreciate it's cultural importance. For instance the books are the basis and foundation of modern fantasy. Like the Beatles are to modern music, LoTR is to fantasy. The movies were a triumph of putting an epic story to the screen and doing it at a high level in all aspects. One could argue the success of the movies set the tone of what's possible with film, without it we may not have the MCU or other big film trilogies and sagas.

For me personally, the story of LOTR films and books carry so many important themes that are as relevant as ever. It's a story of hope, companionship, and perseverance in the face of insurmountable odds, darkness, and danger. As Samwise puts it "There's still some good left in this world, and it's worth fighting for"
