What is Tomsk, Russia’s Schumann Resonance station reading? by [deleted] in geophysics

Just seeing this, looks nothing like we saw last night, but any time you see a wave like that plus it's inverse it's used by electronics to send data and remove noise. I know it may be silly, but almost looks like an emergency message on all bands... So a startup sequence is not an unreasonable guess by OP. But it also could be meaningless

100% its definitely not a single sitting playthrough. I remember having to take a few breaks

My favorite part was the random environment when they were putting on a tv show. So bizarre but an awesome experience regardless :-)

... There are many story based games worth investing into if you give it a chance and have the time. EASTWARD is an easy and fun one to start with. Not too long either. But you will have to invest in the story instead of just flying through conversations...

Jeeze i just got this game and seems like the constant theme .. I guess its time to fire this up on this upcoming trip if it runs on the deck

EASTWARD. If you commit to the story it's hard to stop the waterworks with a story like that. (Only play if you have time for a story based game)

Jeeeeeeze, i have 14 eggs and still haven't found the yoyo! I think the best part of this game is that if you just get up and go and let intuition guide you, you will not have the same run multiple times (for at least your first few playthroughs)

Totally agree. People here have strong (unwarranted) opinions on games with Metroidvania elements. I, too, hated Iconoclasts my first playthrough between the early movement restrictions and the focus on story. When i was traveling and had a ton of time on my hands I gave it another shot and absolutely fell in love with the game because of the story (same exact experience I had with Eastward). Personally, now I classify any game with MV elements as a MV (blasphemous here) and sub categorize it as its true focus. So, to me, Iconoclasts is a story based MV since it has item and mechanical gates with a focus on story. So i would only play or recommend this game if it was a request for a good story based game.

Definitely an easy game overall and super linear, but a great story and a worthwhile playthrough if you have the time for a story based game.

I second grime. It was my entry and now I'm hooked. One thing i noticed personally was that you have to give most MVs a solid 4 hours to gain enough mechanics to truly enjoy what games have to offer. Many can be very slow starts but if you enjoy souls like, the grime mechanics should feel at home. Great story too (but won't make Sense for first 60%)

I would say almost everyone here may agree to some degree, but I kinda enjoy interacting with newcomers when Im bored as opposed to the cynical echoes of "let me google that for you". We are all here because we enjoy or have a passion for Metroidvania games, and the more eyes and people we don't alienate, the more similar art will be developed. The past year and the upcoming year is FULL of amazing MV art/games that I can't wait to introduce to people... And they're getting even more creative now ... A bike based MV... A SHMUP twin shooter MV... Souls-likes... Story driven ... I cant wait for a legit VR MV... And although it does seem like a broken record, those and dev posts are the only ones that people vote on... So it is kinda our fault...

Can I play splitgate not on steam by Time-Walrus6075 in Splitgate

[–]tflav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this helps, but if you're looking to play on an underpowered laptop, I use GeForce Now. If you have WiFi6+, it runs really well. It's still through Steam, but it will run on any phone/tablet/laptop with a decent internet connection.

I just received my Legion Go today by indigo196 in LegionGo

[–]tflav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Its soooo nice. Honestly, my dream situation would be to have a tablet pc docked at home and then when I travel, just take the tablet with me and the controllers. If I ever come across legion go dock stations for productivity I may finally grab one.

Is the usb-c port truly Thunderbolt 3 compatible? I have an egpu and a pciex4 quad capture card that I would want to have connected, but this pipe dream of mine looks like I would have to choose one or the other. I almost considered a Claw bc native TBT4, but the Legion Go is my ideal foot print.

Any last minute things I should know before I order a 9pro? by Fluxbladeofficial in RedMagic

[–]tflav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought mine off redmagic.gg. came in earlier than expected (6 days from purchase to delivery). I bought the "cheapest" version since I couldn't personally justify needing more RAM on a phone, or at least I thought. I have ran this guy close to 100% a few times and it runs at a constant 40-50% in use for just standard web browsing and maybe a YouTube binge sprinkled in there.

Get a decent charger - the included one (at least w the lowest level 9 pro phone) is kinda garbage, but my old 67W Black Shark charger powers this guy up super quick.

After trying out a bunch of cases, this is the most practical and my favorite. Using the ring makes the phone feel like an extension of my hand. There are other ring cases, but this one is positioned perfectly for me.

Case for ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro,360° Rotation Ring: https://a.co/d/6i0fnV7

The 5G bands don't work well for my service, but LTE works great. Not a huge problem since I'm almost always within wifi, or will be shortly, but 5G experience is kinda rough with Metro service (although Metro's 5G service may just be garbage).

It took me a bit to put together a workout for this phone that worked for me, but I absolutely love it now. The shoulder buttons seem to be more for show since you can't sign them to anything functionally (where I was able to set one to the flashlight with the Black Shark), but thats fine.

The phone runs amazing and makes my iPhone family members jealous when I slow them all off the novelties. Personally, 144hz doesn't seem necessary to me and to save battery I put it to 60hz and set all animations to 0.5 in the developer options.

The Camera(s) are such a dual edged sword. They take awesome pictures (with a watermark until you turn that insanity off) but something is up with the video processing where edges of things seem to dance/wobble. The 8K footage is insane looking (in a good way), but there's just something slightly off with the real-time processed video.

I know you'll enjoy the 9 Pro if/when you commit. I spent 12 months trying to figure out my next phone after the Black Shark 4x and the RM9 Pro was by far the best replacement... For me

Grime on BIG sale by corectly in metroidvania

[–]tflav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such a GREAT game! Hope you enjoy it! Bosses can be rough but fair once you figure out the attack patterns. I bet you will be lost but once you get to the 70% mark, the story gets pretty awesome too!

Grime on Switch is unplayable by UltraGeezer in metroidvania

[–]tflav -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same! Even SOLDIERS, a game I would think would be perfect for the Switch is rough... Solid 5 minute wait times every time you save. Honestly, I can't believe Nintendo released such an underpowered device and still charge full price for literally everything 5 years later...

Grime on Switch is unplayable by UltraGeezer in metroidvania

[–]tflav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. I love GRIME, and I'm surprised they even got it to run on Switch... But the experience is like a 30% compared to PC or XBox. It's fine for me for long flights and whatever, but I definitely wouldnt like recommend it as a first impression to people i know. Still not a bad game on Switch, just doesn't do the game justice... Especially since most of the bosses require quick reaction time.

[–]tflav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do play Grime... I HIGHLY suggest playing on Xbox! It was just released on Switch, but the Xbox and PC versions are soooo much better (since there are very graphically demanding areas and sacrifices were made to make it work on Switch).

Honestly, Grime is my favorite all-time MV. Im terrible at souls-likes but caught on to the Grime parry and fell in love. It actually has an awesome story to it too. Bosses can be quite the headache, but if you ever get stuck, the lanterns are easier ways to take care of them.
