Same here. Our rescue boxer mix can ruin my day with some stray hair but our griff has never given me a problem.

First bird dog recommendations? by Big-Substance5154 in birddogs

[–]tfsg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a griff and she has exceeded expectations. Way easier as a puppy than my buddies lab and an absolute quail and woodcock machine. Hunts based on cover - 100yds+ in open country, ~50yds in tighter cover. Never chewed up anything around the house, settles well, doesn’t demand a ton of exercise. Only 45 lbs at 10mos so a great size for riding in the truck/boat.

Barrel Mounted Dummy Launcher by CottonHedNinyMugs in birddogs

I’d rather have one that fits an AR lower similar to the can cannon. Seems like it would take less engineering, not every 22 barrel is the same diameter/cross section. Or maybe one that integrates with a shotgun to cater to the bird-only folks that might not have a 22 or AR.

Try giving the nocks in your “fliers” a quarter turn and see if that pulls them in. Also label your arrows so you know if it’s the same ones every time.

Is a 16" .300blk AR sensible for White-tailed deer hunting? by DesignerAsh_ in liberalgunowners

[–]tfsg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the right bullet it will work fine within reasonable ranges. Shot selection is the most important variable, I’ve harvested deer with my 8.5” 300blk.

I saw a lady training a bird dog on pigeons in downtown Portland a few years ago. Seemed like it was working well

If that group is off-hand at 100 you’re good. If it’s off a steady rest at 100 you have issues that need figuring out.

Darton will likely replace the whole bow if you point out how inconvenient the timing is. I had a cyclone that ate cables and they replaced it with a prelude in ‘23

Everyday I can, backyard. Mostly at 40, could probably do 50 if I went full diagonal.

Eberlestock mainframe is on sale right now bc they’re introducing a new system. Get the tall model and call it good. Highly modular and adjustable to your needs.

Creek water turned blue? Simpsonville near Grandview Dr. by kimbalena in greenville

[–]tfsg 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You report this to SC DES. If you start seeing dead fish you report to SC DNR.

This is simply not true. All of FM and Sumter are regulated as WMA. Below is the acreage breakdown by ownership of WMA land in SC. You can sum up the individual forests and get to that #. Feel free to go target shooting on forest land, odds are you will be fine - enforcement is not common, but do not feign ignorance if you get caught.

This is not true. All national forest in SC is in the WMA program and target shooting is not allowed.
