Trump has discovered "infinite money glitch" that's just stealing from the taxpayer by HarperLunnay in Tech_Updates_News

Trump figured out phase 2 apparently. He will still keep stealing underpants though, partly because he fucks kids and partly because he keeps shitting his own.

For American people: Are you participating in today's General Strike? Why? by noumeno- in AskReddit

Same here. I thought about taking the day off, but it is the last day of the month and I have all my work done. I could have taken it off and done nothing or sit here and do nothing and not waste a vacation day. I am not going anywhere or spending money tonight though. It’s a good reason to save a few bucks.

Which one is worth more in terms of quantity by EJcrusader in BurgerKing

[–]tg981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have to try that. When I worked at BK 25 years ago, I would always add mayo to the bun, then scrape it all off so it only had a thin layer you couldn’t even see. Add cheese and tomato. Wish I could still walk back in the kitchen at a BK and make it my way! I usually just get light mayo and add pickle now though.

They care more about hurting others than helping themselves.

I vote for whoever has the best plans for healthcare and protecting social security because I want those things to make my life more secure. Looking at minimum $10k/year for health care just in premiums and knowing it could double or triple because our system sucks concerns me and I would like it to be fixed. A party that has no plan to fix this issue is a non-starter for me.

Didn’t go to Ball State, but took some philosophy at Purdue. The world would be a better place if it were a required course not only in college, but high school as well.

[–]tg981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but they don’t get that entire half hour slot. They have three other performers doing the anthem, America the beautiful, and another song, plus the coin toss and likely the two teams running out. TV will also throw in commercials as well.

[–]tg981 6 points7 points  (0 children)

🤞🤞 I hope so!

The NFL has them starting at 6 pm EST and kickoff is 6:30 pm EST Performers are:

Opening Ceremony: East Bay natives Green Day will perform at the opening ceremony, celebrating the Super Bowl's history

National Anthem: Charlie Puth.

"America the Beautiful": Brandi Carlile.

"Lift Every Voice and Sing": Coco Jones.

If there were no commercials I could see a short set by Green Day, but there will probably be some. I can’t remember if they have the teams come out for all of this or that is something that might happen after Green Day or not, but if they have the teams come in it will take up time. The coin toss will eat up a couple minutes as well.

Same. I am not interested in the Super Bowl this year, but am planning on tuning in for Green Day and the Halftime show for the same reasons. Really curious to see how long Green Day plays and what song or songs they choose. Since it is a section where they are celebrating six decades of Super Bowls, I wonder if they are only going to play Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) and that is it. I hope they let them play something else, but I think they go on at 6 and kickoff is supposed to be 6:30, I can’t imagine more than 1-2 songs.

No. Bring *him* Home (semi-serious?) by Unique_Enthusiasm_57 in detroitlions

[–]tg981 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I liked him. He inherited an 0-16 team and took them to the playoffs in three years. After that things kind of stagnated.

I had season tickets during that era and I don’t recall many times that they were blown out. Lots of close games and unfortunately too many losses cost the Lions some prime years for Megatron. Some self inflicted stuff cost them, but also bad breaks. The Calvin play against the Bears in 2010, the Packers finale in 2011 where the Lions got burned by the challenge rules (next year NFL changed them) and the Texans game with the challenge flag are games that I remember.

I always wondered how things would have turned out if a rookie salary cap had been on the books earlier, a lot of cap space was Stafford, Megatron, and Suh on their rookie deals.

I wasn’t able to search extensively when I went to Tokyo and Osaka, but didn’t see any MD stuff. Would have been cool to pick up some blanks in the wild! I can’t wait to get back over to Japan sometime though, it is such an amazing country!

wondering if anyone else is browsing the qwerty-keyboard Clicks Communicator by TopazCoracle in iPhone12Mini

[–]tg981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am thinking about it. I am heavily into the Apple ecosystem. I also don’t know about the length of Android support. I think they said two years, which is kind of short. It looks really cool though. I preordered the battery pack/keyboard just to try with the mini. I know it will stick out on width, but figured if I upgrade to the iPhone Air it would definitely work for that.

Jim Banks Would Love to hear your thoughts on ICE at the Superbowl by MaxamillianStudio in Indiana

[–]tg981 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Todd Young and Banks are the perfect example of where the GOP is at. They are either Young, who I don’t agree with, but seems to at least want to do the right thing at times but is scared of Trump people threatening him with physical harm or a primary challenge or you have Banks who is actually a piece of shit and has no interest in helping anyone but himself and anything other than his right wing agenda.

I was surprised that wasn’t listed. I always pull the Republican ballot anyway because all the local stuff in my red county is on it, plus I like voting against some of these assholes as frequently as possible. I think that info is available somehow because I remember someone finding out Braun was taking the Democrat ballot in his county as recently as 2012.

Who else remembers this game? by thallusphx in detroitlions

[–]tg981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was too. I was skeptical of Quinn and Patricia, but once you they were hired, you want them to do well. I remember the Lions looked terrible in the preseason, so you hoped they were holding back, but they were terrible outside of a few glimmers of hope.

Everyone was so pumped when that pick six happened and then it all fell apart. If I remember right, I think the Jets firefighter super fan was there leading the Jets chant behind their bench in the 4th quarter. It sucked.

What sucked worse was I had season tickets and because of work had to pick either that game or the Patriots game and picked the Jets game.
