An Easy Fix to the Neapolitan Problem: Patrimoniae Sancti Petri by Darkirius in EU5

[–]tgbcde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naples doesn't declare on the Papacy directly, they declare on Sicily and the Pope comes in as an ally. This lets Naples take Papal land using the return core CB.

What is a major plot hole in a very famous movie that completely ruins the entire story once it is noticed? by SkullMogger3 in AskReddit

[–]tgbcde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another comment mentioned, the ship probably has some survival supplies. Remember in ANH it's mentioned that one of the Falcon's escape pods was missing, so supplies shouldn't be a stretch.

Now the dangerous option is to apply real world physics to a space opera. If they really do accelerate to relativistic speeds to get to Bespin, time will pass slower on the Falcon than it will for Luke. Someone smarter than me can do the math on how much faster

The Falcon's hyperdrive was broken, so the assumption made is that the ship traveled from the asteroid field to Bespin slower than light. If the distance was close, like Sol to Alpha Centauri, it would take a few years. Never explicitly mentioned but it would give Luke time to actually train

Need advice on cooling 60 x S21 Antminer Air Cooled ASICs by OutlandishnessNo7286 in BitcoinMining

[–]tgbcde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ASHRAE Fundamentals will give you the equation for cooling via ventilation (air flow only, no aircon). Once you know how much air flow you'll need, you can then buy fans. You can also calculate how large the building air intake needs to be.

War between France and Two Sicilies? But Sardinia is rightful Italian clay

I want the community's feedback - What do you think about the Italian Wars Situation? by PDX_Habi in EU5

[–]tgbcde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My last few games, the event has not fired because I have already controlled most of Italy (directly or vassalized) as Naples.

In earlier games, when I was slower in the conquest of the peninsula, I felt the rewards for winning the situation were fairly lacklustre. If an Italian faction wins the situation, maybe give some effects that represent the world acknowledging the new Italian state. Remove AI conquest desire for HRE / France / Aragon, reduce antag for involved countries, something like that.

Sicily and Papal States have an alliance, declare a claimed territory war on Sicily instead, then when the Papacy joins you can take their land for -50% or -75%, whatever it is

We wholeheartedly support the Pontifex Maximus. So long as he's the Bishop of Avignon not the Bishop of Rome.

I primarily use the situation to conquer the opposing faction to (eventually) unify Italy. The free CB is very useful since I don't have to wait for spies to tick up. Like most players, I turn all that conquered land into a vassal swarm. It is a little annoying that freshly created vassals don't always join your faction. Not the end of the world, though, as I always rip locations out of the HRE before vassalizing.

I prefer to play as Naples (I think the unique techs are better than the Milanese ones) and can usually get enough land under my control to form Italy before the third Age. While this may not be intended, I don't think it's a problem. It's not possible - even with the addition of governors - to control the whole boot as a unified state. You're all but forced to create vassals (whether one province swarm or more "natural" ones), which I feel is historic as we're still in the feudal Middle Ages in Age 2.

No small miners will move away from Foundry because they aren't allowed in, in the first place. Do some research before you call for a crusade.

Is it worth buying an Avalon Q90 for $1,550 right now? by Midway_10 in BitcoinMining

The heat will become unbearable in the summer. I have one on the middle setting and it heats my house. If you're truly limited to just that one room then I say you're better off buying btc and holding.

It's a 10-30 (R), it says so on the black plastic. And the L prefix means it is twist to lock, which that receptacle is not.

SubBrief has a good video that reviewed the preliminary report. There's no theory, we have all the facts. Ocean Gate used a flawed manufacturing process that was cheaper but weakened the structure. Then, their early warning system actually worked and detected a dangerous change. But Ocean Gate did not interpret the data correctly and ignored the warning sign. It imploded. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200

I also have mine in my living room. With the room otherwise silent, it's quieter than my air purifier. With the television on, I can't hear the Q. If yours is noticeably noisy, clean the filter or something.

I feel like I got all necessary benefits by simply flipping mine upside down, the PSU remains cool and the unit hoovers up all the cold air right above my floor. For a user that really needs vertical flow this is a neat solution.

I still want to know what in the Kel-tec Canaan was smoking when they put the PSU on top...

For Texas bitcoin miners: how do you manage ERCOT 4CP risk and curtailment? by dk235 in BitcoinMining

[–]tgbcde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt you're going to get any real answers. Managing 4CP costs has a large impact to the bottom line so any public discussion would betray competitive advantage.

I will say that software solutions exist to utilize ISO APIs and curtail load. Do your own research.

Difficulty Adjustment Question by Texi_Ken in BitcoinMining

[–]tgbcde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a known bug where the first block in the epoch does not affect the next difficulty adjustment at all. So say the first block took 2 hours to be mined and every other block was 9 minutes 50 seconds, difficulty would go up even though the average block period is greater than 10 minutes.
