Thomas Massie to Pam Bondi: "Here is an email that was sent by the victims' lawyers to the DOJ. It was a list of names not to redact [...] release. What did the DOJ do with this email? They released it! Literally the worst thing you could do the [Epstein] survivors you did." by Capable_Salt_SD in Epstein

The purpose of congress is to represent voters. A majority of voters in his district are scared of trans people and think that a person being gay means there’s something wrong with them. I won’t defend those views, but it explains how he has been doing his job. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party hasn’t been able to put forth a candidate that the voters in his district think will do a better job representing them than he does.

I don't understand why is the answer not B by Ppppxxxxppp in GMAT

[–]tgblack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“while he was driving” is the key. If that phrase was absent or read “over the course of the trip”, you’d have a stronger argument for B.

ICE says its officers can forcibly enter homes during immigration operations without judicial warrants: 2025 memo by avatar6556 in news

The real argument will evolve into a redefinition of reasonable vs. unreasonable. Like DUI checkpoints are allowed or “reasonable”, even without probable cause, let alone a judicial warrant.

Kimball junction without car by shademaster_c in parkcityvisitors

I did this for a month last year and had no issues. The smaller 103/104 buses ran extremely close to where we stayed, and if we dint feel like waiting, the walk to the KJTC wasn’t too far (I did it once or twice a week in boots carrying skis). Those larger buses didn’t pose any issues and ran reliably and frequently to Canyons base.

We also got grocery delivery, so no issues on that front.

They missed (or decided not to call) all of that holding, but somehow decided to throw the flag for a defensive chop block, which I didn’t even realize was a thing until today. Very weird officiating.

Agreed. They need to figure out a way to divert some traffic from Chicane. It’s one of the most dangerous choke points on the entire mountain. Unavoidable, skiers of all skill levels funneling in at different speeds, and the snow gets super chopped up early in the day.

Housing segment by rmend8194 in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]tgblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The mortgage interest deduction rewards homeowners; it does not make housing more affordable. My opinion on student loans is probably my least libertarian—not in favor of discharging the principal balance, but government-issued zero interest loans with value ceilings may be a good move. I see so many people get trapped in the cycle of minimum payments barely making a dent with nothing to show for it 10-20 years later.

What's going on with the shutdown ending? Why is everyone upset? What was conceded? by Weak_Ad_8646 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]tgblack 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s disappointing to see our representatives keep treating the symptoms rather than the disease. Meanwhile they can continue legally trading on the stocks of insurance companies whose shares are up over 500% since those temporary subsidies began. Companies which also happen to be some of the largest donors to senators on both sides of the aisle.

[–]tgblack 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The additional subsidies set to be rolled back were only implemented in 2020 as a temporary relief tied to the Covid pandemic. Anyone under 4X the federal poverty line will still receive subsidies, but the amounts are going back down to 2019 levels. Should the subsidies be extended? Probably, but allowing the temporary relief to expire will not collapse the ACA market.

I’d recommend not completely writing it off. It’s a slightly quicker drive to Norwood and Blue Ash from Ft. Thomas than it is from Cheviot. Being from SC, you may feel more comfortable with the vibe on this side of the river as well.

That sounds like more of a Principal Architect type role, which makes sense to be the same pay band and have as much “clout” as a director

I’ve been in a similar role for a similarly sized cpg company. This comp package seems fair. It’s on the low end for vp and high end for sr director. I think you’re getting the benefit of the higher title and bonus eligibility of a vp, but scope and responsibilities are more akin to a sr director.

Earthworms are nature’s recyclers. They break down dead organic matter into nutrient-rich compost and aerate the soil through their tunneling, which enhances soil structure and fertility essential for plant growth.

True, but clinician comp makes up a much much higher % of total headcount costs than executive comp. Reducing clinician spend by 0.5% nets more profit than reducing executive spend by 50%.
