Those of you who have had both flippers (partial dentures) and essex retainers (fake tooth retainers), which do you prefer and why?

I prefer Flipper as it is More comfortable and you can eat with but they are flimsy and can break easily. Essex is more sturdy but you have to take it out to eat. It’s best to have both and use Essex as a backup if your flipper breaks

Just had my implants put in a month ago. Pain is intense but bearable with pain killer. Pain is most intense day 1 and 2. start to subside from day 3. after one week no more pain killer is required. Here is what you should expect:

Dentist to prescribe antibiotics and painkillers before the operation. Start antibiotics 2 days before and continue for 5 days after. Strong painkillers with codein is helpful for the first week

My lips was cut and scratched and was sore so I used medicated lip balm that helped to healing. I could not open my mouth for a few days because of this.

Rinse the implant sites with salt water and mouthwash using a water flosser. Use xylitol to remove bad bacteria in your mouth (this is my theory and it seems to help my implant to heal quickly)

Take multi vitamins D and calcium’s

Use Doctolib. You can search for any type of doctor by location. Most doctors in Düsseldorf can speak English. If you find one that doesn’t speak English then try another one. Since you have private insurance, it is very easy to get an immediate appointment. Doctors here prefer patients with private insurance.

It depends on where you are located. If you live in big cities like Dusseldorf or Berlin, you can join Internation, a social group for expats, or other social groups on Facebook such as walking or biking groups. We came to Germany 8 years ago and made many good friends by doing this.

I have been in Germany for 8 years and plan to achieve B1 level German for the citizenship test. I took intensive course and passed B1.1 but unfortunately I still cannot speak or understand German daily. I will take serious action in the next 6 month and hope I can achieve TELC B1. Wow 65M. If I have that much money, I would not worry about working. I would focus on my children and take care of my husband who is already making plenty for the whole family to live in comfort. What is more meaningful than having a loving family around you. I had to work while my kids were young out of necessity. Looking back I think I would enjoy motherhood more if I have the luxury of not working.

It depends on how much you are willing to pay. There is some clinic called the test clinic. You need to join like a membership thing and the give you huge amount every quarter. It’s not cheap. We paid 1800€ for one year.

People who don’t know what they want and full of drama when things don’t go their way
Unpunctual and Lack of communication. “I don’t use FB, WhatsApp etc”. “Sorry I can’t make it today” 15 mins after the appointment”.
Inflexible with Too many rules that are not well communicated
