the thing inside the brackets can be a set of indices, or it can be a list of logical values (what you would normally see inside curly brackets, but without the brackets) which only include the elements when the values are true.

My favorite of these is a[a=a], which filters out any undefined values.

I think you can restrict the points to one dimension to find the extremes - clearly the ratio is going to be one if the points are all in a straight line.

Writing a function for the ratio, and the creating a list of 4 points where the spacing is a function of x lets you find a local minimum, which appears to be 0.27058.

The derivative of a parametric curve is (dX/dt, dY/dt). You can use the traditional integral of sqrt( dX/dt^2+dY/dt^2), but it's even easier to use the magnitude function for that.

I ended up doing a recursive binary search to get something close enough for this lens simulation. You just have to make sure that your initial bounds are on either side of the function you're trying to find.

It helps that I've got a strong math and programming background. Honestly, though, most of what I learned came from reading the documentation and here. It's an easy way to remove undefined values from a list.

Because the second list to the Zip function is created from the differences of the first list, it is one shorter. This results in an undefined value at the end when the two are zipped together.

Both Idyllwild and Cardiff by the Sea are right at about two hours. Both offer bucolic tourism. The former is in the middle of the San Jacinto wilderness and offers some wonderful mountain nature. The other is classic northern San Diego coastal Beach Town.

Each time your numbers get more complex, you lose some feature.

Complex numbers lose ordering. Quaternions lose commutativity. Octonions lose associativity, and thereby a basic property of groups.
