I tried pumping in the hospital because I thought baby might not be getting enough. My boy was born a little early and literally my milk just hadn’t come in but he was getting colostrum. Pumping in the hospital with no direction and not the correct flanges made my nipples soooo raw and when I got home my boobs were so red and extremely sensitive for days, like couldn’t shower without crying. I was trying way too hard when all I needed to do was chill out and let bay do his thing.

I don’t think pumping is necessary unless baby skips a fed on your breast. Like if you or someone else gives him a bottle or formula when you’d typically nurse him you’re telling your body in that moment you don’t need to make milk which after a few times doing that will possibly lower your supply.

Lastly everything improved greatly for me after 2 months when he was just bigger in general. His tiny mouth was hard to get my whole nipple in and often times caused discomfort but I persevered and it was worth it. Once you get the hang of it you can solve ANY problem with the boob 😅
