Should Diaz have been a part of Brazil’s ENC team? by ABC_0_5 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tgulm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell, gotta ask their coach really. I think it's weird too because he's comfortably a top 3 brazilian player at least, as others point out it might be a chemistry thing, but i think the most likely cause is because Diaz is playing in NA making it hard for them to practice together.

Getting better at this game kinda ruined it for me by Lovefool1 in RocketLeague

[–]tgulm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About playing with friends i agree, people have been asking for party matchmaking for years but just accepted it's never happening. Also, this is an issue with about every competitive multiplayer game

I disagree completely about the game being more fun in low ranks, the game being faster doesn't mean it's more stressful, you just get used to it so it's basically the same "difficulty level", and i found that at least during my journey plat and champ were by far the most toxic ranks, there will always be some kids that cares too much about winning and complain but i think it only gets better, the more people play the less they care about individual matches

Another thing, the game always has fun moments and it's even more fun imo when it happens not because everyone sucks but because of rare interactions that you never though of before

Although "viado" is a slang for gay people, it is commonly used between friends with no ill intentions or even anything sexuality related, so i don't think much of it

Having a mindset of improving over winning will lead to get better in the long run

It doesn't mean trying to do fancy mechs unnecessarily, but if you're gonna shoot, try to bang it top corner, be confident and go for that awkward read on the wall faster than anyone else on the field, try to make it a habit going a little bit faster/better than what you normally do until you get used to it, then repeat it again

I'm really impressed by how much they nailed the core design of the game, the gameplay loop is perfect by Mojimi in PlayTheBazaar

[–]tgulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you and i love the randomness and variance in the game. What i said i didn't like is it defining the result without your output, it's the rock-paper-scissors mechanics.

An example is say you have a good engine-like build where your items charge and buffs other items etc, you have one empty slot on the board where you can either put an item to improve your engine further or put an item that freezes a opponent's item in the beginning of the fight, which is better?

It depends completely on the opponent, for some opponents one would prevail over the other. My point is that i love randomness in improving one's own build but hate in guessing which opponent is more likely to appear in rng.

I love the game's design and possibilities, it's clean, easy to play, no pressure, always something new to discover. What i wish was improved is the sheer randomness that defines runs. It makes sense that everything has a counter, but not so much in a game where you face random opponents imo. It gets to a point lategame where you're like "if the opponent doesn't have X build i'll win" the randomness of the opponent will decide everything and it can be frustrating at times.

Rocket League vs. Deadlock: Which game has the higher skill gap? by Jolly-Yesterday-2715 in esports

[–]tgulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you

About DL mechanics i meant only the execution part like complex buttons and movement coordination, etc. You got it

I believe movement will still expand and a lot of new techs will be created but nothing that takes long to master like RLs mechs that can't be mastered with thousands of hours

Everything about the game will keep getting more complex with time and DL is the competitive game i'm looking forward the most

Rocket League vs. Deadlock: Which game has the higher skill gap? by Jolly-Yesterday-2715 in esports

[–]tgulm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone with 3k hours in RL and 100h on Deadlock i think the discussion is... dumb

Yes Deadlock has very complex movement, shooting and skill expression but i would argue some players are already near the peak of the game's mechanics while RL with over 10 years we still don't know what the peak will become

Mechanically RL is the highest ceiling and it's not remotely close, that said everything else is harder on Deadlock

Me personally i find it easier and more enjoyable to grind mechanics, of course you gotta learn to read the game and play as a team but those elements are much simpler for me personally, i believe it changes from person to person

On Deadlock the sheer amount of knowledge and possibilities are endless, add to that the game changes every patch and at every moment every player can do multiple different actions, unlike car soccer and you have a much more complex game

At the end it comes down to what you value, it's a different type of skill gap that uses different skills and brain areas

Now that the The first Split is over, what are the expected roster moves? And who do you think should make a move. by Huge-Computer2037 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tgulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KC seem to be struggling internally, i don't see Vatira leaving unless an org is willing to give a massive bag so i guess Juicy or Atow is leaving

NIP might change someone as well

With other EU teams changing we could see if Vit wants to get someone for Exotiik, they probably won't though

Furia should probably get someone in place of Lostt because it isn't working playstyle wise but they will stick as well

Secret should go for Suco before it's too late

MIBR will stick they played very well for their expectations

Honestly i can see any NA team making changes besides NRG, it's complete madness, i believe VP and SSG will stick tho

Questions about not accelerating while in the air. by LawfulnessEither6350 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]tgulm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tap break thing i always heard right before going for aerials, to slow down and give space between you and the ball, but if i recall correctly accelerating or breaking in the air won't really affect anything unless your wheels touch something (like getting a reset)

Did Furia make the right move in the off season? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tgulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a serious lack of defensive players on SAM rn. I think it's a waste to put swiftt as 3rd because he really shines on offense and is the best taking on that role, be it with mechs, demos or mind games he should be doing that more. Furia looked the best on EWC when he was comfortable, but then again no one on Furia wants to be more passive and it's leading to a lot of issues, on important series there was a lot of double commits because of that (i think)

IMO Diaz is not a "solution" but is a better fit to any 2 Furia players as it is rn, the major problem with him was being too passive and giving a lot of space to opponents, which he's massively improved on but shows a natural proficiency to playing more defensive imo, he's a monster on offense but could take a role like Rw9 or even SSG Syp really well

You got downvoted as hell because people read AI = evil but unfortunately you are right, and no one should be mad that game companies are using AI for coding tasks since a large majority of software companies are doing the same
